To any of your knowledge or speculation, will Hunters be forced into wielding a sniper rifle primarily? I know each class can use several different weapon types, but will Sniper Rifles yield the best results for Hunters? I am not so much a Sniper guy, I would prefer to utilize a different weapon and be just as effective... if possible. Your thoughts?

Edited by Hunter: 10/23/2013 1:41:46 PMNo, they won't. You can use any gun you want.
I should know, hehehehe
-
Nope, you've got nothing to worry about.
-
I think so yes. You can use any gun but I bet hunters get more points or something using a sniper rifle, like a borderlands thing
-
No one is forcing me to use a sniper rifle. I'll gladly carry one! Honestly, considering the fact that it looks like players can carry at least 12 different weapons in 3 different categories, there won't be much fear of getting shoehorned into a particular weapon type.
-
Any class can use any weapon, because they once showed a Hunter wielding a rocket launcher.

Edited by meep: 10/23/2013 6:56:43 AMThey heavily emphasized on you shaping how your playstyle. So its probably up to you. I myself will likely become a hunter but more emphasis on cqc assassinations etc with a bit of marksmanship when needed
-
From what I've seen so far, no weapon is class specific.
-
Hunter who doesn't want to use a sniper rifle.. Know I have seen everything
-
this is how I think it will work for all classes. Warlock: -Primary Weapon -Special Weapon -Heavy Weapon Hunter: -Primary/Sniper weapon -Special Weapon -Heavy Weapon Titan: -Primary/Heavy Weapon -Special Weapon -Heavy Weapon I think Hunters will be the only class CAPABLE of having a sniper rifle in the primary weapon slot. Just like the Titan will probably be the only one capable of having two Heavy weapons. Warlock doesnt get much uniqueness to his weapons because he has magic as a weapon.
-
No try will not, weapons are not class specific. I hope this helped u
-
I hope not. I like being sneaky, but I prefer being sneaky up close.
-
From what we have seen and been told, any class can use any weapon, and you choose your own play style, so I doubt any one class will be forced to use any particular style of weapon.
-
Hunters are versatile but I like sniping. My warlock friend is the sniper in the group though. Ill be working with every weapon..oh by the way awoken hunter
-
No I believe it is your choice after all in the gameplay demo the warlock had a chain gun halfway and isn't that a heavy type weapons class?
-
Edited by Hylebos: 10/8/2013 12:03:59 AMThe Sniper Rifle will be availible for all classes, and anyone who thinks that it won't be a heavy weapon is kidding themselves. The range of the sniper alone is enough to shoehorn it into that category, that's not even factoring in the damage per shot that the Sniper will likely provide. But no, if you are a Hunter, you won't be forced into using the Sniper by anything but the Metagame, which in and of itself is a concern, but one that should hypothetically be balanced out with design considerations.

All guns can be used by all classes. Each weapon has it's own skill tree. Each class will have it's own abilities that define what that class is all about. The traditional build for these classes are: Titan-The Tank Warlock-The Controller Hunter-The Support However, Bungie is going to try to balance these classes so that it can be like this: Titan-Anything Warlock-Anything Hunter-Anything Bungie's goal is to make each class unique, but similar so that you don't miss out for choosing one class over another.

In one of the game play trailers, a hunter is shown wielding gjallarhorn
-
I think sniper rifles would be in the heavy weapon slot just because they are a powerful weapon. Every other class can use a sniper too.
-
There are no weapon/class restrictions. My thoughts on snipers: They will ultimately fall under either the special category or heavy weapon slot. The primary weapon slot is reserved for your "everyday" rifle.

Thank goodness

As far as has been officially stated, there are no weapon to class requirements. In the bungie podcast they even talk about a hunter using a hand cannon/ pulse rifle combo. So no sniper rifle requirement. I highly doubt there will be any kind of requirement on weapons based on class. According to the podcast it's more about developing the weapons to your character style and having a relationship with them then being any requirement.
-
In the Destiny podcast they mentioned running a hand cannon/pulse rifle combo as a hunter and said it was working very well, so I'd imagine that whatever you want to play, whatever your style is, the system will work with you and work to further that style of play.
-
The weapons you gain will be trailered to how you play, class has a small effect

No more than Titans would I think
