I went in at 2:15 to one of the local stores today and asked them if I could get a printout of the code if I just pre-ordered again. They told me they had nothing in the system regarding the Destiny Beta... Has anybody who's pre-ordered before Sept 30th (typo on FAQ says September 31st, enter stage left- loophole) gotten an email from Gamestop yet? That got me a receipt with a code print at the bottom of it. So yeah, seems like the most sure fire way to get a code is to walk in. I can't remember if you need to be a PowerUp Rewards Member to pre-order in the first place but I don't think you do. If you aren't sure whether you're a member, go into the store instead of waiting for the email.
