Destiny Public Event Idea

Just some thoughts I had even before the public event gameplay was released. I thought it would be pretty cool, and hopefully you do as well. :) So imagine you're playing on your own, or maybe with a few friends, you're wandering around outside the wall. Maybe you're on a mission or maybe you're just exploring what was once a thriving city, or forest. On the horizon you see some hostile drop ships approaching and you get some cover up in a tree or behind some rubble (putting it out there that it would be awesome if you could climb trees and various other things). As the ships get closer the words "Public Event" show up on your screen and you notice many other players who happened to be in the same area appear. Some are hiding waiting to ambush, some are out in the open waiting to unload rounds. During the fight some players are downed waiting for medical help, some are killed. Depending on which side wins or loses different scenarios could come out of this. Scenario 1: Players win Players win and they could be rewarded maybe with a currency, maybe with items, weapons, or materials, maybe even your reward is based off of how much you aided in the battle. Scenario 2: Enemies win If the enemies win maybe they have something similar to an outpost set up. It could implement a public zone where the surrounding area of the outpost is a public area where you see other players, and anything that happens in that area will also affect every other player. For instance me and my friends could organize a raid to get rid of the outpost. If we succeed, the outpost will also be destroyed for all other destiny players as well. If we kill a few of them, same idea, every other player will also have those specific enemies killed. Also maybe the outpost will be fortified over time if it's not destroyed. After I thought about this for a while (keep in mind this was before we knew about the public events) I started playing with the idea of having to defend the city. Bungie does mention that it's the last remaining city. Why would enemies not want to attack it? Imagine getting a notification (whether in game or on your phone ect.) telling you that enemy forces have been spotted and at 5:00 (your timezone), or in 2 hours there will be a public event to defend the city. Players log on from around the world and gather around, on, and behind the city wall. Defenses are build, you and your friends organize yourselves. Enemies flow in all around the wall, some fly in from drop ships, some are on foot, some on various ground vehicles. Players start to shoot, some are running into battle, some speeding in on vehicles, some staying back and sniping. Some enemies break through the wall and make it into the city, maybe even a bunch of them make it through. The fight continues until all the enemies are killed. Many players are also killed but the city was not heavily damaged. You get a reward, materials and parts from enemies are used to repair broken parts the city. It was an overall victory. With this event there wouldn't really be a clear winner some of the time. Even if all the enemies are killed you could still have more city destroyed than materials earned, making it more of a loss than a win. The more that is broken in the city the more that is lost, maybe some shops/buildings are temporarily unavailable, maybe the economy is hurt etc. Or maybe the city is defended well and rewards are given, not much is lost. It might be interesting if the more you win the more the city could flourish or even expand. One problem would only be if all the players die, it would leave free rain for the AI enemies to destroy the city. Maybe there is a point in the city where civilians and/or turrets kill the enemies before they go any farther, like a fail safe. It's hard to say without knowing more detail on how the city and world will work, but I'm sure the general idea is there and I hope I've sparked more ideas. Let me know what you think and if you have anything to add!
