Lets take a moment and get to know each other...

Over the past months since Bungie unveiled Destiny for the first time for both the Playstation and Xbox we have had a spike in new comers joining us in this great Community, and Before I really get into anything I would just like to welcome all of out new Playstation members to the community. Its nice to expand and mingle a bit. Moving on. I know i'm not widely known around this community, and for those of you (or I guess most of you) that don't know me i'm Swasher. My 3rd birthday here will be on November 1st! Since I've been here I've tried to make it a point to join in on community events or just invite players to join me in some Halo so I meet members from the community. Some of my most Memorable community games have been the Bungie Day Community Carnage events the past two years. There I have really had chance to meet a lot of you and just have fun with the community as a whole. That's the reason i posted the picture above (big thanks to DoctorSmurf for the link). The picture was taken a couple weeks back while playing Halo 3 on Bungie Day. It was a great time! Sometimes when you step foot into the forums you don't always see people you like, and lately (as we all know) that's been sort of a problem around here. We have all be re-introduced to how the mute button and how it can be a special part of our lives on this site. Its a great feature! This now takes me back to the subject about new members. Over the past months gamers have been introduced to the Xbox One and the Ps4. Honestly there both great consoles in there own way. Its really up to the consumer, and which console appeals more towards them and why. As the number of new comers have grown here so have the number of console war threads. Threads such as
Sick of all these P$ noobs
or
M$ still copy Sony
Its been a bit difficult mixing and matching the site. As most of you know this site has always been run by Xbox users seeing as Halo was an Xbox exclusive, but now we have Destiny. Now sometimes I really do feel the way people post on here is a bit immature. In my opinion if your going to try and talk a console up be informative about it and don't put other people down because they like something different. I see a lot of people replying in post talking other people down because they like something that person doesn't. If you don't like what that specific person has to say simply don't reply or just mute the person. I think seeing as most of the originals on here are xbox users (such as myself) it can get hard welcoming a whole new console world into this site, but I do enjoy it deeply. I love seeing new console users here, and talking with them. A lot of people here fight and bicker about things. To people we don't even really know. Deej says the power is in our hands to make a difference on this forum. To keep it clean. To make it what we want. This is true, but another way I also look at is that none of us take the time to even get to know each other. A lot on here try though. Things like the Community Carnage events are great for that kind of stuff. You get to really learn and meet the people from the community. The bad thing about the Community events though are that there mostly on Xbox. Most of the the Xbox fan base here will never play with the PS fan base, and most of the PS fan base will bever play with the Xbox fan base. Pretty much where i'm trying to get at is at the end of it we are all gamers here. Waiting for Destiny. Just a bunch of guys and girls sitting around talking about video games, because that's what we love to do. Sometimes we don't like someone on here, but the second we play a game with them you realize "hey, that guys not as bad as I thought". Some of us will never really know if we like that guy or not because we may never get to play with him. Only talk to him over a gaming forum. Take the time to mix and mingle. Introduce yourself here. Meet another console player. At some point we're all going to have to get along. Why not make it sooner. If someone goes through and starts commenting things that you don't like, block them. This thread could either be a good thing or bad thing. It could blow up in my face. It could work. It could get no recognition at all. Its your guys decision. I'm going to start " Hi my name is Swasher. I've been here for almost three years now. Yes I am an Xbox gamer, and will be buying an Xbox One come November. I'm just as excited as most of you are for Destiny. I have no problem with PS or its fans. I feel everyone has their own opinion and taste in what they like. I love this community as i know most of you do. I just want to try and take the time to really meet as many of you as possible" Your Turn. Mingle a bit. Make friends.
