Dated Aug 23, 2013, Here is a brief IGN interview DeeJ from Gamescom 2013. It includes discussion of the UI design decisions, classes, weapon slots, weapon customization, and a few other small nuggets.
In this video DeeJ reiterates that your entire character carries over to all aspects of Destiny. Including competitive multiplayer.
-
Cheers for posting. I never check IGN.

I watched that just a little while ago. This part here:
Including competitive multiplayer.
I was really happy about. I like the idea that who my character has become in regards to gear, stats, abilities, and weapons is useable in facets of the game.
-
Nice, definitive info that powers/supers are the big class differentiators, as suspected. Guns for all!
-
The balance guys are going to pass broken glass over this. Hilarious this board will be come over first ownage by nova bomb.
-
So this what I've been waiting for. It wasn't long, and it didn't cover a *lot* of new ground...but what it did do was finally give us some definitive answers with regards to direction of the game and what they're driving. DeeJ, do more punchy quick interviews like this and there will be a lot less angst around here. Instead of teasing for an entire mailsack and giving just one eensy little bit of Strike info, I felt like you actually confirmed a lot of helpful information instead of forcing the community to endlessly (and pretty uselessly) speculate. Thank you.

The interview made me cream my pants a bit.
-
Honestly, this video, in some ways, was more informative than the new ViDoc. There's actually direct answers to questions.
-
Sounds really amazing.
-
Deej seems like the most passionate person when it comes to his job. Great interview.
-
Deej handled this interview well
When I go out on a campaign mission and I complete my enemies and I earn some sweet new reward, you know, maybe something I can add to my build that makes me more powerful
Between this and what Natasha Tatarchuk said in the ViDoc about getting abilities in a loot context, it's pretty much confirmed that character upgrades will have the option for random boosts outside of the regular upgrade path.
-
nice interview, i almost forgot what Deej sounded like
-
Now what I'm hoping for is an Adam Sessler interview (with DeeJ) at PAX. Adam has always been great at asking all the right questions.

I think one of my favorite design decisions in Destiny is the minimalist UI. It's such a change of pace, I like it.
