I was excited to see in the gameplay demo that the player can fire Halo style from the hip accurately along with aiming down their sights. Is there any reason to go one way or the other?
What is the difference in accuracy from the hip?
-
Depends. Halo style would suffer no hits to accuracy and sights would just function as a zoom mechanic. CoD and battelfield, hipfire suffers large hits to accuracy. I think somewhere in the middle of the two would be nice.
-
I prefer aiming down sight, but if you get too close...I'M SPRAYIN AND PRAYIN.
-
I prefer to do both
-
ADS for every gun except heavy machine guns, my hip like 'dem heavy guns.
-
I prefer to look down sights but the thunderbird looked
-
hip fire requires less skill and for people to really enjoy the game for a 10 year period it must challenge them make players work for their kill otherwise it would be too easy
-
I'm also glad that Bungie went this route, because I'm tired of games that have Aim Down Sight but make "hip-firing" extremely inaccurate to the point where you can only hit things that are practically face hugging you. I personally prefer aiming down the sights, but occasionally use hip-fire when there are crowds of enemies or when running and gunning towards cover.
-
Im to used to just aiming down sights even at close range
-
Hip shooting is the worst. On every shooter I pop in and out quickly sights. It's something that takes some practice but is far superior for accuracy shooting on consoles.
-
look down.. I've always wanted a full auto weapon has the ADS.. I even still tried ADS-ing my AR in H CE!!!
-
Hip firing requires skill in games like halo, but hip firing in games that have sights isnt very effective. It really depends on the game as to whether the hip firing works well, i prefer aiming down the sights because its more realistic but can be just as fun and skilful as hip firing
-
I think hip shooting is more balanced.
-
ME3 has a really good system if you have a scope on your gun that I think Destiny will be similar to. You can look down the sights and scope in or line the targeting reticule up "from the hip" and it is just as accurate.
-
Mix because you could want to run and charge at the enemy finishing with a gun but in the face or stay back and pick off targets. I hope there's I mix of fire modes though like in Battle Field were you can change your fire mode from full auto to single fire
-
While i do prefer hip fire, i believe that Destiny is a going to be a game thats meant for everybody to play and hip firing might require to much skill for some, so i believe Bungie is trying to shorten the skill gap as much as possible to make the game accessible for everyone.

Relevant video on the subject of aiming and accuracy in space.
-
I do both depending on the situation.
-
If ads isn't tons more accurate than hip firing I will be disappoint.
-
I'm surprised hip shooting isn't more popular considering that many people here have probably played their fare share of Halo. Personally, I hope that hip shooting is far more effective than COD and BF... I don't want to see Destiny become an ADS camp-fest.
-
Give me iron sights with a variety of scopes I only fire sub-machines guns from the hip while looking like a GUARDIAN
-
No wonder you all suck so much at Halo.
-
ADS makes no sense if you have a heads up display. Just sayin.
-
I personally hope that the ADS system is similar to that of borderlands, where it allows you to center your aiming on a target, but does not actually increase accuracy compared to hip firing. To simplify, it works like this: when you hip fire and when you aim down sight you have an almost identical amount of spread, but using the sights makes it easier to focus that spread towards a single point.
-
Hipfire, seriously CoD sucks.
-
If there is difference in accuracy, what about third person view?? Wouldn't everything be hip fire in 3rd? Will your character pull up their gun and you're reticule shrink/expand/steady??
-
I'd like a nice mix of both. I'm tired of the majority of games either going 1- ADS or bust 2- forced hipfire Balance is the key.
