Data transfer
Are you going to play Destiny on current gen but intend to also play Destiny on next gen?
Do you hope for the ability to transfer character saves to next gen/cross platform?
Will there be enough people to want this, for bungie to consider the possibility of increased sales if this were possible?
I understand many are in a similar situation to me, that you would like to play Destiny next gen but cant yet afford it.

2 RepliesI'm sure they will. It would be extremely shortsighted to release a game on the PS3 and Xbox 360 without allowing your data to transfer if the game is supposed to be a 10 year experience.

Character saves? Character data will be server side, not client side. Whether or not this happens will depend on if PS3 shares the same servers with PS4, and the same for Xbox. If they don't do cross generation servers then the chances of porting your character from the older console version to the newer is slim to none.

They would be crazy to not have your PS3/X360 save able to be transferred to PS4/Xbone, considering their goal of making the game have a 10 year lifespan. The online profiles transfer, so they could tie your progress and loot with it and make the transition painless. I don't really see saves going across an Xbox to a PlayStation platform, however.

I'm gonna get Destiny for my 360, IF it is AWESOME I'm gonna buy a PS4 and WANT TO Xfer my character from 360 to PS4 SO I HOPE SO!!

3 RepliesI would think that there would have to be some cross gen data transfer. While we heard that PS3 isn't dead with PS4, XboX 360 seems to be dead with Xbox one. So if you buy Destiny on current gen but all the other games come out next gen, they will have to do data transfer I would think

I really hope Bungie allows for your character to follow you to next Gen. Even though I've already preordered the Xbox One, I hope for the sake of other gamers that your character is attached to your gamertag, and not your console.
