I'm getting close to being finished with my EP, and I'm not sure if I'm able to copyright the album cover, music, songs and lyrics all together. It's all by me, so that gets rid of one speedbump.

You can always put it in the public domain if you want it to be copyright free, or put it under the Creative Commons license so that others may use the work without permission for non profit generating functions. These are things that have to be explicitly stated. It never hurts to put a text line in whatever means you use to distribute it to remind everyone that you own the copyright (eg: © NAME).
