Something really stupid just happened, I need your opinion on the matter.

(Okay let me give you guys some context before I go knee deep in this shit.) I live at home with my family. My younger bro (he's a couple years younger than me) believes he gets told to do too many things by our parents. He had stayed up all night yesterday cause he found out LIVE was free that day and he was playing Halo 4 all night. Him and his dad had shit to do the next day, he stayed up all night anywhore. We're all Muslim, parents are quite religious, but by no means radical or jihadists (don't make this a religious thread pl0x). Oh and also my younger bro tends to sleep all -blam!-ing day, seems to ignore his parents on purpose, and he hates sharing information with me cause he doesn't trust me for some -blam!-ing reason. So because of this I always know whenever his behavior is bad, it's due in part of something he hasn't told me about. (girls, friend being an asshole, grades, etc.) Teh Situation: So today I'm at home doing an ass ton of online Calculus III homework (read 60+ problems), I go pick up my dad and bro from the store (cause I dropped 'em off). We get home, we're all happy (regular -blam!-ing day). But Bro quickly walks to his room, and shuts the door. My mother calls for him to put out the trash, Bro doesn't reply (mom rageometer has increased slightly), I take the trash out. That was 5:00 PM. Now it's 9:00 PM, my parents have been repeatedly trying to wake him up so he doesn't stay up all night again cause relatives are coming over tomorrow. He -blam!-ing knows this. My mom was literally cleaning up the whole house most of the day. So my mom enters the room; he's sleeping. Enter le meme arrows for better narrative of what the -blam!- happens next: >Mom: "get up damn it! eat your -blam!-ing dinner! you didn't even eat lunch today!" >Bro: "Whts the big deal if I sleep all day huh?" >Mom is now screaming at him (I stop listening and continue with homework) >Dad (yelling from couch): "Get the hell up damn (Bro's name)!" >Dad anger is rising >Bro isn't getting out of room still >Dad enters the room >Grabs Bro's arm and says: "C'mon, move-" >Bro says "let go of me!" while shoving dad >fatal error achieved >Mom and Dad anger has reached ape shit levels >They both literally start beating the shit out of him (they just hit his torso, not face) >They tell him to stay outside of the house >Mom and Dad are sad as -blam!- cause son pushed dad (uber disrespect) >He's currently sleeping in the garage >Dad thinking of calling police to put him into juvenile detention or put him into foster care >He's most likely just not going to give a flying -blam!- about him though. >Mom was literally crying cause of Bro's actions I'm just wondering if this situation was totally blow out of proportion, if Bro was in the wrong or in the right, if the shove justified the beating (there wasn't even a bruise on him). I don't know WTF to do, and it's stressing me the -blam!- out while doing homework.

  • Beat the shit out of him until he learns to act like a decent human being.

  • This was worth reading just because you wrote "anywhore." Your brother may have been a brat, but hitting him was unnecessary.

  • Most teens go through this stage. Comes with being Americanized sadly...

  • Your brother is suffering from two similar cases. Being a Cynical Asshole Syndrome and Teen Angst. Obviously your brother is either stressed out or just acting out. We (including you) know nothing about your brother's personal life (along the lines of his problems). But ignoring everything around him and pushing his father is typical teen angst. Your parents hitting your brother is a lot worse. Forcing him to sleep in the garage and considering calling the police for DETENTION and/or FOSTER CARE is too much. Hell I'd call you a troll if I didn't know any better. Solution? Sit down with your Mom and/or Dad and talk about this. Make sure your brother can't hear you all talking. Force them to come up with a solution kept in the family, not with the police or foster care.

  • First off, how old is your brother? Second, even if your father did called the police, he would be in more trouble once they learn of the beating.

  • Quite frankly, I would recommend counseling between all of you to ed-escalate the situation. But, that shit's expensive, so at the very least a big sit down talk needs to happen and all parties involved need to express themselves in a non-confrontational manner. Emphasis on the non-confrontational manner.

    • Great story Ninja, would read again. I started laughing at this part: ">Mom and Dad anger has reached ape shit levels >They both literally start beating the shit out of him (they just hit his torso, not face) >They tell him to stay outside of the house" lol But yeah i think they went a little overboard, that level of anger for that situation is far from deserved, though your bro was being a disrespectful little shit-stain.

    • A bit of an overreaction by your parents (your bro was being a -blam!-head, but still), but as long as it doesn't go on for too long, there's no problem.

Move out, are you old enough? Anyways, I don't think there's much you can do, it's a problem between your brother and your parents. He has to do something about it.

      • He shoved them and they beat him? They should be the ones in trouble. How long has this been going on? His sleeping all day and not talking? Your parents may just be tired of it. I would just try to talk to all of them.
