Are you watching the case today? They are broadcasting the court case right now, on CNN. My lunch break is almost over, but I thought I'd share that with you all.
What are your thoughts on Zimmerman right now? He's being charged with 2nd degree murder, which needs malicious intent, but not forethought. I disagree with the charge, solely because I don't believe it is going to stick. With this charge alone, I can see Zimmerman walking away scott free with a not guilty verdict.
I recommend watching it if you can, you'd be surprised at how biased the media was when this event first took place. There was a lot of information that was covered up and ignored to create the racal scandal we had at the time.

zimmerman is guilty

zimmerman should be guilty

Edited by Bolt: 7/2/2013 9:51:11 PMI've said this before and I'll say it again: The media loves to cast things in terms of good and evil. It allows everyone to take their sides quickly, and to express simplistic opinions that can fit into the 30 seconds of "news" between ad-rolls. Now that's going to backfire on them, because everyone that bought the racial story is still going to see it that way, and will riot when Zimmerman is acquitted. Oh wait, that won't be backfire, because now they can cover the riots. Maybe even more kids will die! They always -blam!-ing win.

I feel like things of this nature happen at least once monthly here in America, why is this case so big? Not to understate how much of a mess this has become, nor how muddy the details were, but if the media hadn't gotten their nose bent out of shape, would it still be going on today? None of that is sarcastic by the way, I genuinely don't know any of what I'm asking and want some answers.

Edited by Stark444: 7/2/2013 8:33:42 PMDaily Reminder: Zimmerman is a hero and should be given a medal for doing his job. Trayvon Martin was a thug who started the mess, Zimmerman was just doing his job trying to protect the neighborhood.

Why do people even care? The only people who should care are the people directly involved in the trial, and the family of those people. Everyone else should screw off because it's none of your business.
-
This racial division is getting completely out off hand. The media should be ashamed for over hyping this.
-
I didn't get to watch it, how's it looking so far?
-
I'm watching it, the bias everywhere in the reporting is really annoying. I also cleaned my nugget in precaution for the riots that will break out if he's found not guilty.

Free ma cracka zimmerman!

Edited by Gaara444: 7/1/2013 5:49:55 PMDaily reminder: George Zimmerman is a hero and we should all be thankful for the divine work he did removing another worthless piece of shit from the gene pool. That man should be on trial for not doing his job more often, he needs a medal for his actions.
-
Everyone.. Go out and buy a gun now! : )
-
They always overcharge to try and negotiate a lesser charge. Zimmerman should be walking free already.
-
He shot someone? Then he needs to answer for it.
-
Hopefully he'll get at least 5 years.

What everyone seems to forget is what he actually being accused of. He's being charged with 2nd degree murder because he needlessly put himself in a situation where his pulling his gun was the only outcome. The racism that is here is in two areas. The first is that Zimmerman thought Martin was a thug based loosely on the color of his skin. To this I say yes and no. Was Martin a thug? Actually he was. That didn't warrant the confrontation that led to his shooting, though. Zimmerman should have kept his distance and allowed the police to do their jobs. Would he have acted as such if Martin was white? Probably not. The Second charge of racism isn't aimed at Zimmerman, but at the police. They sat on the case for almost 2 weeks and did nothing. This was something like the 10th murder involving a young black male that had gone on that long. Contrariwise, whites in Sanford had a much quicker investigative time. I love how the media, and then you guys, try to act like Martin's character mattered at all. The only thing that matters is if Zimmerman needed to confront Martin at all. If he didn't, then he appears to have either engineered, or blundered into, a situation led to his needlessly ending a teen's life.

Why would I watch it?
-
Without a doubt he will walk. He was justified in the shooting. Just because a situation theoretically could have been avoided does not mean it wasn't a justified shooting. I could walk to the store right now and someone could try to mug me. I would shoot them. Would that not be a justified shooting because I could have avoided the situation where I needed to shoot them by not going to the store? Zimmerman did not break any laws, or commit any crimes leading up to the point where Martin went back and initiated an attack on Zimmerman.
-
Why bother watching ? Everyone is just going to start a thread about the results when it's all said and done anyhow

This case has been on a sensationalism-fuelled bender for 2 years.
