Something I never got about new releases...

Why is there an update on Day One of a new game? I got The Last of Us today (and by GOD the game is great, made by my all time favorite developer Naughty Dog) and before I can get to the main menu, I had to update Now some of you may know this already but this update pretty much glitched my game, I'm almost sure, it's an autosave glitch that basically cancels out any attempt for you to save, and any autosaves that are supposed to happen, don't, so I think that if I turn my PS3 on right now, I'll have to start from the beginning, and I think I got pretty far for two hours of gameplay So is there any specific reason as to why devs do this?

  • Possibly something about multiplayer.. if it has any. That's why most games even have those updates.

  • Not all new releases do this, but some do. It's because it behaved in a different way, than they thought it would basically. Or their was something they found that they didn't with their own testing. Which is why betas are a good idea. You let millions test your game. And hundreds look for problems specifically.
