I'm deciding on which of the two to join. I'm in physical shape for both, besides not knowing how to swim; but I can always learn that.
Both are important branches in my family, as my grandfather and uncle served in the Army; while my dad served in the Navy. This makes it even harder to decide.
Lastly, I want to remain in top physical shape. Which one would provide me with that?
So Flood, which one should I go with?

Go army, beat navy.
-
Well I think you should chose to be in the Air Force

Army would definitely help you stay in good physical shape. My cousin entered the Navy without knowing how to swim, he knows now. He also said people (his officers) made fun of him for signing up for the Navy without knowing how to swim.

Imperial Japanese Navy

Well, what do you plan to do in the military, job wise?

Edited by nao: 6/9/2013 7:44:39 PMJust got done with 4 years in the Navy. Spent most of it in Japan and Korea. Couldn't recommend it more. Staying in shape isn't going to be hard for either. Really have to ask yourself if you'd rather be on ship or land. Also what type of Job you want to do. Knowing how to swim is kinda important in the Navy. You wouldn't be the first to join who didn't know. They teach you in boot, but its just going to make boot that much harder for you. A lot of people tend to panic when treading water their first couple times.

As an army veteran, I suggest the navy. I even had some soldiers under me that were ex navy and regretted going army. I myself wish I would have went navy after a lot of thought. They take better care of you and it's a better environment to work in.
-
If its between the two I would navy. It seems like the experience and training you get in the Navy helps you find higher paying jobs than someone who enlisted in the army. I'm pretty sure you get highly specialized jobs in the navy(which can be a good thing or a bad thing).

Edited by DeclinedA01: 6/9/2013 9:24:29 PMIt's your decision and yours alone.

I'm working towards an officer billet in Naval EOD, but it really depends on what job you want.
-
I'd go with Navy. Less chance of getting yourself killed. Unless if you're a marine...
-
In my opinion army is under trained and over deployed. My recruiter would be telling me to tell you to go marines though lol but I would say navy out of the two options.

Edited by Chobo 66: 6/9/2013 7:28:37 PMAir Force, they have the hottest chicks. Good idea to go corpsman, they have the Navy's hottest chicks and most corpsman are total retards so you'll be the smartest person there. T: EM1 ETA: Whatever you do, please oh please make sure that you are signing a contract for the exact job you want. Your recruiter might feed you a line like "Well there aren't any spots open RIGHT NOW but you can easily switch over in the future." And then you of course can't just switch and you hate the next four years of your life. If your recruiting station can't get you the job you want then go to another one. Someone will take care of what you need eventually

Why do you want to join the military so much?

Edited by Hank Hill: 6/9/2013 5:55:23 PMI think I've decided on Navy. I was looking at information based around the Hospital Corpsman, and saw that they have FMTB. So I could basically be on land while still serving in the Navy; basically the best of both worlds for me. Plus, Petty Officers don't look that bad either. Thanks for the help guys, I'm deciding to follow in my dad's footstep. Going to a recruiter sometime this week, and will enlist, as I'll be a Senior this year.
-
Army, because you will see more action.
-
Look at each branch, make sure you're truly up to it. Find a job(s) that have your specifications, and talk to the recruiters. Although each will be biased, they'll be pretty earnest.
-
Just do your research, talk to recruiters, and decide which one is more for you. Your experience could be completely different depending on where you're stationed, the MOS you get, etc. The only thing I'll say is to ignore the people suggesting the Marines. Probably the one branch I would advise against unless it's what you really want to do.

Form a band.

Navy! All the way! Going to OCS soon, best decision I have made. Plus their uniforms are better. White or Turd-Green? You choose lol
