For all you people who actually like Halo 4...

...What is it that you specifically like about it? I was thinking to myself, quite a bit of people enjoy that game, whereas I really don't. So I figure I'd ask you to be as specific as possible and to give me the reasons why you like it or love it. If you enjoy the campaign, multiplayer, forge, or spartan ops, please go as in-depth as possible as to why you like/love it.

  • I love the soundtrack to it; especially tracks such as 117, Mantis and The Beauty of Cortana (which, to my knowledge, didn't appear in the game but it appears on the CD/digital download of the album). The multiplayer is alright (though frustrating at times), however I love Spartan Ops. So much so that I have clocked around 2 days of in game play time and nearly on 30,000 kills.

  • ITT: Haters getting butthurt and fanboys getting butthurt. Who cares why I like a game? A lot of people like Oblivion, IMO the worst ES. I like Halo Wars, many of you hate that game. Why would I explain why? Why should you explain why? Opinions

Campaign Pros: -Lines up characters with their EU counterparts -First Forerunners in a Halo game -Sense of mystery for a handfull of levels -New enemies -Amazing Graphics & Lighting Cons: -New covenant not elaborated upon -Not too many people shocked to see Chief alive Multiplayer Pros: -Still feels like Halo -Can choose starting weapons -Most armor mods only affect you outside of combat -AA's more balanced than Reach -No bloom -Personal Ordnance is a blast for casual play -Smoothest playing Halo game -Find games based on hidden CSR Cons: -Few armor mods benefit you in combat -Personal Ordnance isn't good for competitive play -Rotating Ordnance removes majority of map control (Fixed) -DMR dominates a little too much (Fixed) -Too easy to rank up -No visual skill ranking system Spartan Ops Pros: -Provided new lore after the game's launch -New things to do every week Cons: -Episodes 1-5 repitive gameplay wise -Cutscenes follow canon loosely Forge Pros: -Duplicate Objects -Object Highlights & Names -Object locking -Lighting System -Trait Zones -Magnets Cons: -No precision editing -Lighting has to load -Magnets don't always line up properly Custom Games Pros: -More in depth play traits Cons: -Lack of party gametypes -Custom Options removed Theater Pros: -None Cons: -No Campaign -No Spartan Ops -No rewind -No upload support The majority of the game is quite awesome. New Forge options save custom games from being too bad. And while theater is quite dissapointing, it doesn't detract too much from the experience.

        • Firstly, I started play halo from 3 so maybe this is the main reason. For the story, it makes the chief feels more human. Maybe this isn't what you want but I feel this chief more real. And since 4 is the first multiplayer halo I've ever played, it simply is the best multiplayer FPS I've ever played

I like the game because my expectations were realistic of a studio's first original game. While I don't find Halo 4 to be great, I appreciate it for what it is, and I don't focus on and resent what it lacks. EDIT: Specifics Campaign: Didn't enjoy it. The story was lackluster and the gameplay was rather boring. The Storm Covies were a challenge on Legendary, but the Promethians, unless you had a group of 12 Knights charging you, were laughable. The only part of the campaign that I actually enjoyed was the ending, and not because it was over. 4/10 Spartan Ops: Great concept, but practically every mission was "Kill all the enemies, activate something, kill more enemies, mission over." I find it hard to believe that 343 had such a hard time finding ways to mix things up. Then again, Season 2 will be released eventually, so there's a possibility that this could change. 5/10 Multiplayer: This I enjoy. While I'm not a huge fan of custom loadouts in a Halo game, the customizations weren't huge game changers, so I'm okay with it. The gameplay still feels enough like Halo for me to enjoy it. I have also enjoyed using the Forge greatly. Plus, the BR is back. 9/10 Visuals: The graphics are pretty good, but the low framerate annoys me. Halo has always been a 30 FPS game, but with graphics such as that of Halo 4's, it has to be upped. The only framerate problem in Halo Reach was forging in Forge World. Now I can hardly play two player splitscreen without the framerate dropping from 5-10 FPS. 7/10 Soundtrack: I didn't find Halo 4's soundtrack to be bad, but it still was the worst of the series, in my opinion. 6/10 Overall: 6/10 I'm pretty much taking what I can get with Halo 4. It showed that 343 is capable of making quality games, but Halo shouldn't have been their maiden voyage.

            • Campaign is meh... Very meh. I am very pleased with the forge, aside I'm a forge-a-holic, the multiplayer is fun to me, but the game has to be played with friends, it can get boring without being able to explain your exploits to a friend, like a killtacular in SWAT.... There are a lot of issues, a lot of bad armor, and it is sad without actual ranks, like lieutenant or general, SR 50 is boreing

I like it because it feels like Halo to me. Yes, many of the new changes detract heavily from that feel. Most of the maps are in need of improvement, the Random Ordnance system could've and should've been done much better (and without killing map control), and Personal Ordnance is the worst thing ever. But even with all the changes -- good and bad -- Halo 4 still feels distinct to me. It doesn't feel like any non-Halo shooter I've played. Campaign is a similar story: it's absolutely horrible at some things (lack of explanation, and del Rio), but it excels in other areas (Chief and Cortana). I think the positives of the Campaign outweigh the negatives -- though I expect better from 343i in Halo 5. TL;DR: IMO everything in Halo 4 has enough redeeming qualities for me to be able to enjoy it despite its flaws. Except Forge. Forge was broken in every single conceivable way.

            • I enjoyed the Campaign because 'Chief and Cortana's story was the most compelling of the franchise, thus far. It was strange at first, to witness so much heart being placed into their journey because I'm so used to little-to-no character development in a Halo game. There was no 'bad' level, but there were some rough moments, and it never reached the heights of previous entries. I think it was solid throughout, gameplay wise. I also enjoyed the music. I enjoy MP because battles move at a nice pace, and weapons feel satisfying to use - especially following the recent weapon update. AAs, for the most part, were better implemented, by taking up a more passive role - with the exception of the horrible camo and jetpack. There are issues, such as instant respawns and personal ordanace, but they're not enough to stop me from playing. The core game's just great fun. Spartan Ops was a cool experiment, but it suffered from repetition. I did enjoy a number of episodes, though, and thought it was successful enough for them to follow it up when they have a lot more time to show more versatility like they did in the second half.

                • I like the Campaign. I felt that due to it being more serious and including characters that aren't cardboard cut-outs (ie Master Chief), that it felt like a meaningful campaign. It didn't bullshit itself except for some few times (which I will admit could have been executed better) unlike some other Halo campaigns *cough cough* Halo 2 *cough cough*. The ending gave me feels, and it made me cry, unlike the other Halo campaigns. I'm not necessarily fond of the multiplayer, however. I do like the idea of Infinity Slayer, but I felt that it was executed poorly. The gametypes were bland, and the maps were mediocre. The big maps had too little going on, and the small maps had too much going on. The PO was piss poor, as well. I felt that it could have been better overall. Now, on to Spartan Ops. I did not necessarily like it until the 2nd half of Season One, that's when things got interesting and the script and events got better. I also was amazed by the ending (I'd never would have thought to blow up Requiem.), and felt that it fit well within the Season. Overall, Halo 4 is not a bad game, and it's a good game in general, but it has so much wasted potential. However, I do think 343i still has the potential to make Halo 5 much better, even if they haven't found it yet.

                  • The story was gold for me, and I even have a good time on multiplayer. Probably because I don't expect anything in particular out of a sequel. It's their game, I just play it.

                  • I like it simply because its just a change of scenery from the typical modern-day/(slightly)post-modern day military shooters. Halo 4 could be a WAY better game than it currently is, but it isn't a bad game... just doesn't live up to its potential is all.

                    • The forge is not great, the campaign was missing something, theater is a shambles, but on top of all of that I like the multiplayer. It just has A nice feel, more so after the update. And the campaign just hit me at the end. I found it had quite a powerful ending (even if a bit untraditional). I love the fiction of Halo and I found that Halo 4 was a nice addition to that fiction. I also like 343i aim to include more of the outer fiction into the games.
