What drives us?
So today I dug out an Xbox Live one month card and created a new account. Now I'm playing Halo 3, in Lone Wolves, going from 1-50 yet again.
Certainly I'm not alone. Half the people still playing are on new accounts and they've definitely played before.
So I'm just wondering, what was it about this game and its whole ranking process that was so addicting? Why do people still do it to this day, when there's nobody to even show the rank to? Perhaps I'm just clinging to nostalgia, but it's still so satisfying watching those numbers go up.

arh man, the ranking system made me cry, it was the most challenging to get from 45 to 50. Hardest challenge, I loved it.. and then they screwed the ranking system... I havn't played H3 for so long, If I ever get a powerbox i'll jump back on.
