It's my bnet birthday!

Also, my real one! Err... well yesterday was my real one. My 6th bnet birthday though =)

So, I just want to throw out a personal opinion here, and say that the rule on the bnet birthday threads should be removed. As I understand, the rule is that your post has to merit some kind of discussion. I can see why that rule stands, but for the sake of a general sense of camaraderie, I I think these threads should be an exception. The majority of us here in the current state of the site are here because we feel as if we belong to this community in a special way, and there shouldn't be any more need for conversation than to congratulate our fellow members on sticking it out with us another year! Personally, I always love seeing these threads, and it always grinds my gears seeing them get locked, even though I understand where the mods are coming from. So, how does everyone else feel about this? Am I the only one that thinks bnet birthday threads should hold a special place in the rules?

 • Personally, I think birthday threads in the public forums (do whatever you want in private groups) are only really cool when there is some kind of landmark (1, 5, 7, 10 years) but most come with some kind of discussion attached anyway, since you've now been here long enough to know simply saying "I'm still here!" is a dead end thread. There really should be some kind of discussion attached, even if its merely "Wow, this place has changed in X years and heres what I like better and heres what I miss!" But I'm also bitter because I've seen more birthday threads than I've eaten slices of birthday cake in my lifetime. And I've eaten a lot of birthday cake. Anyway, 'grats on toughing out the calm before the storm.
