Who am I going to be in destiny? Myself? Or someone new?

After reading almost every interview I can find on destiny, it's more than painfully apparent that Bungie is placing extreme emphasis on our "lives" in this new universe. In past games we've been handed a sword, gun, knife, what have you... and been told what to do and where to go. I've always been the soldier type, as that's what i've always been given. That's what has been portrayed in the videos and concept art, or pitched at conventions or reveals. While no official trailer has been released for destiny, I've come to the painful conclusion that I'll actually have to make my own decisions for once. Skyrim made me want to grab a sword, shield, armor, then launch an assault on all dragons... living or dead. Mass Effect 3 made me want to be some crazy male super soldier who with a straight up gun, saving the galaxy from giant squid monsters. Halo put me in the shoes of John, taking me on a wild ride to save Earth from The Flood, Covies, and Wheelchairs. I hope Destiny will change this. Should I avoid all information on destiny? Posters, Videos, Audio, EVERYTHING... Just so I can enter this world and make it my own? I don't want to end up seeing the cover and saying "That's the primary weapon of the game, That armor is what I should wear, I should be Male, etc". While Mass Effect was the farthest thing from this, I still saw Shep as the generic Male protagonist, as that's how he was portrayed for so long. The third iteration did place more emphasis on choosing a Female, but that ship had already sailed in my mind. To get to the point though, We're at a beautiful point right now where we DON'T know what's available. We DON'T know much aside from three "classes", a world that needs saving, and tons of aliens that are out to get us. It really does make me wonder though, Who should I be? Sniper? Soldier? Magician? Female? Short? Pregnant? Good? Evil? Should I create my character in such a way that it would represent who i am in the flesh, just in another dimension? Or should I create someone I could never be, just to attempt experiencing/simulating that sort of life in a virtual world? Skinny jeans? Baggy cargos? Oh dear. I will be posting this as a question, but I will not be choosing any one answer. Apologies for the rant, but I really do wonder if anyone out there feels the same. Much love, dmg04

 • I'd say go dark now, concept art and vidocs to other posters will greatly influence you whether you want them to or not by the time Destiny Launches. I think it would be interesting if Bungie had some sort of personality test to take before entering the game like a hardcore character creator that bases the choice of class and role you become on entering Destiny.
