38 seconds into the "Character Development" video shown at GDC, there is a brief image of a mysterious figure, clad in a hooded black cloak, antlers, and holding some kind of 'staff.' If the five panel "mood board" from the GDC presentation is anything to go by, then this figure may very well be a member of the as-of-yet unseen fifth race of enemies (possibly named the Glimmer?).
This seems a plausible deduction to me as the yellow tone, black smoke, and white-faced black figure parallel the fifth image in the "mood board" quite nicely.
Also (and this is a thinner comparison), the triangular shapes in the yellow "mood board" panel are similar to the triangular "ships" seen in another piece of concept art revealed at GDC (one that Bungie won't talk about yet), and the antlered figure's cloak does have a rather triangular hood...

maybe, the glimmer are the ones who stamped out humanity when the traveler arrived. maybe the traveler knew that which might be the reason he came to earth. well what ever it is, I think they can shape-shift due to the pic above. notice the mist behind the fallen and the cabal (which is another clue since the cabal and the fallen haven't been seen with each other).

Edited by Hylebos: 3/30/2013 2:15:21 PMIs it the one with the boobies that flickered for a few seconds? I always thought that it was a higher ranking Hive member, but it could be Glimmer. Edit: Apparently this is the dude the OP is talking about.

the pyramids are the last bad guy, i think they will talk about it in gamescon or even at TGS

My Glimmer ideas from another thread.
Perhaps the fifth race (the Glimmer) isn't being revealed because they are the most important. I think there are a few possible scenarios. Either: A) the Glimmer brought the other races into the Sol system, whether indirectly or as a part of an allegiance (like the Covenant). B) the Glimmer appear in later into the story, and either serve as a common enemy (like the Lambent, Locust, Human conflict in Gears of War), or force the different aliens to work together, with or without the humans, to fight them. C) the other races are entering the Sol System to get away from the Glimmer (similar to how humanity was pushed into other systems to get away from the Flood) D) the Glimmer were the mysterious cataclysmic event that nearly wiped humanity out. When the traveler sacrificed itself, they were knocked out, but they are starting to return, and are more powerful than all the other alien races. Perhaps the Glimmer are more powerful than the other races because they can disguise themselves, and take the shape of other lifeforms... It would certainly explain this image, and also explain their name. They may be called the Glimmer because that's the only way to tell them apart from those they are copying, their method of disguise isn't perfect, and the impostors will "glimmer" a bit to give themselves away to the wary-eyed. We really won't know for sure what they are or why they haven't been revealed until they are revealed, but those are my best guesses.
My guess is that anything related to onyx within destiny belongs to the glimmer. My reasoning is because they described the triangle ships somewhere as onyx looking and the one special pistol (I forget it's name cause i am a more sniper, rifle, and shotgun person.) was desribed as onyx looking as well. Those are my ideas.

They did trademark glimmer some time ago.

I don't know why I think this but I feel like glimmer refers to the "blue gold"
-
I hope it isnt glimmer...thats kind of a gay name for a badass alien race lol

Edited by Sir Cumsize: 3/31/2013 11:26:50 PMThe five alien races have already been confirmed. Unless the Hive and Space zombies are the same thing, then I'm probably wrong. 1. We're talking race 5. Looking at the shadowy blob in the I would guess they're like the 'anomalies' from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and must be killed by some special means. The bipedal figure is some evil leader that can control the blobs. Alternatively, They are all bipedal, and have a shadow-disperse when they get shot at for self-defense. They poof around in battle to get behind you and attack.

I think that is early warlock concept for the awoken race. That is what the warlock looked like with those dark robes.

Edited by Inyaccurate: 3/30/2013 6:43:55 AMNow that I think of it, I do think that those triangular ships were possible Glimmer ships, because they weren't to be talked about at the panel. It would have revealed the new enemy. Interesting.
