Walmart have put a release date on Destiny 360. December 15th 2013 seems oddly specific for just a place holder.

No one is going to christmas shop for destiny 1 week before release.. It would be a nightmare getting it.

The only true way of making sure is when Bungie announce it officially. All we can do is wait and enjoy the ride of teasers and trailers.

Edited by Charlemagne: 3/9/2013 4:14:50 PMIt isn't true, it is just a placeholder date. December 15th is a Sunday and all games are released on Tuesdays. EDIT: Due to the surplus of comments i decided I should clarify my point. Most modern games are released on Tuesdays due to marketing agreements that were enacted after people realized how popular they were becoming. Movies come out on DVD and BluRay on Tuesday, They are released in theatres on late Thursday-Friday. This is just to make it easier to scheduler when stores will be their most busy and how to prepare for us. NOTE: 90% of games and movies follow this, not all. Some have specialized releases due to tradition or other motives.

/sigh That's a Sunday.

All placeholder dates for pre-orders are specific. It means nothing; Activision will announce the launch date publicly once they have one. Until then, no retailer has "inside" information -- that's not the way it works.
-
I remembering hearing somewhere that Destiny wasn't in the 2013 line-up, so for now I going to believe this is false- no offense to your credibility.
-
We'll be seeing more of this as time goes on, retailers tend to throw in placeholder dates on their product pages. It's meaningless. The only info you should derive from this is "Wal-Mart thinks that Destiny will release before Christmas 2013" which shouldn't be news to you if you've been following Destiny at all. :-)

Until Bungie confirm, it's probably best to take all the release dates with a pinch of salt, lime & a shot of tequila.

Edited by Dead Account: 3/8/2013 5:51:41 PMPlaceholder. NOBODY knows when Destiny will be out.

Honestly, this shouldn't be taken with anything more than a grain of salt. It is very common for retailers (usually those that aren't specifically in the video game business, but this isn't always true) to use guesses for release dates on big titles before the actual release date is known.
