Halo Custom Edition is a free addition to your Halo pc game. As long as you have a Halo pc disk and product key, you will be able to install Halo CE as with no delays. If you do not have a Halo pc product key, you can do a quick search on YouTube to find some. Be Warned that most of these keys have already been used and you will NOTbe able to play online, you will only be able to test maps offline. After installing, you will have all of Halo pc's default maps, without campaign. An excellent source of new maps Is halomaps.org, where you will find hundred of community made maps. If downloading from halomaps.org, the downloaded maps will be in a zip file. Contained within the zip file will be a halomaps readme, a readme from the author of the map, and a .map file. Extract the folder wherever you wish and then locate your Halo Custom Edition directory (for xp users, located in Program Files, for Windows 7 users, located in Program Files (x86) and open up your maps folder. Inside, you may recognise the names of some of the default Halo pc maps. This is where you will transfer your .map file to. Once this is completed, start Halo Custom Edition, and open Multiplayer. You will notice your new map listed below the default maps. Select your new map to play!

CE isn't dead!? That game was awesome.

Custom Edition basically got me into Halo. It was in '08/'09, we were messing around in the computer room, and some guys were using USBs to get this game on the PCs. Combined with the LAN in the school network, great times were had.

My first Halo game, and probably the one Halo game I've played the most. Is the community still alive and well? I'm thinking of getting back into it.

I loved the original Halo 1+2, still do. However I do wish they properly supported the PC universe all the way through the HALO universe, but too bad Microsoft Biffed Halo 2 PC, AND took out a.i. support. Dreams are Dreams. I do hope they have full support for Destiny, that is my dream and will be until proven otherwise. Either way I'm confident Bungie will make a great game, breaking all the rules in the fps genre much like halo CE did. I might get back into CE to relive all those valuable memories :)

What are some popular maps now? I remember everyone playing Extinction and Hugeass and then my personal favorite, RPG_Beta_6_2 Did 7 ever get released?
-
I might go back to playing CE soon, so many epic memories

Nice, always wondered what that was.

I was going to write one of these myself but good job, very discriptive.

Well, I'm going to write a tutorial on how to play custom campaign maps in Halo:CE sood so keep posted.
-
Goddamn, I keep telling myself I need to install it on my new PC. The laptop just doesn't cut it. Send me a PM next time you need people. Best map IMO is Engine Room 2.0. Human vs. Flood with teams on either side.
