Bungie Community,
Another refinement to the realm has gone live. Had you noticed? Once again, much of what we're doing can only be detected in the catacombs deep beneath our city. Yet, there are some juicy details that will impact your experience as our most esteemed guests.
They are...
1) We've updated the old Bungie.net. It will be left forever-standing (never say forever) with prompts to intercept the sentimental and bring them here.
2) We fixed a bug with iOS. Those of you who were receiving multiple notifications on your mobile devices... won't.
3) The "Dark Theme" has been finessed. Can you spot the changes?
4) It should be a lot easier to spot the public conversations being hosted by your private groups. You should also be able to tell who is a member, and who is just keeping an eye on you.
And, that is it. That's the end.
For now.
Many of you keep asking how long the Beta will last. When it's over, you'll know. For now, please keep talking to us about your experiences on board the new battle station.
Sincerely,
DeeJ BNG
Assistant to the Community Manager

I forgot to mention something, thanks for making the Recent post history better. I'd still like pages, it would make it easier to find old posts. As of right now its not a big deal but in the future it will be a pain in the ass to find old posts. The improvements to it were a step in the right direction though.
-
I think bringing back pages AND THE OPTION TO ORGANIZE POSTS FROM NEWEST TO OLDEST is a must. Other forums I go on give you that option. Pages help users understand where they are when going through a thread. Endless scrolling makes it extremely hard to tell where I am. Also, bring back polls please.
-
I feel bad for the guy on the flood with 0 posts. His question will never be answered... Nice update. Bring back preview post, save threads, top threads, give us more color to customize with the website with please, and umm I will tell you more when I can think of more.
-
All in all, I've really come round to the new B.net! Main thing I would still like to see changed would be at least the option to sort threads chronologically from first reply to last. Some other things here and there, but overall I think the Beta's going well so far!
-
Something still needs to be done to make discussion easier. Whether it's the post order, or something else. For example, the PC building thread. Immensely popular thread in the old Flood. Right now, due to the tag system, it averages like 1 post every other day. Come on...and that's the same with other threads too. They just aren't lasting long anymore. There's so many ways to filter stuff out that discussion is just way too scattered. It's off-putting.

Edited by Schulex: 2/1/2013 3:11:02 PM
Now all you need to do is return the chronological posting format, pages and all, and then restore private group functions to their former glory. Accomplish these two feats and I'll start liking this place again.
Still need pages! Endless scrolling is just dreadful!
-
Reply to 2): nope.

The site is more or less perfect right now for me, I can't wait to see what else you guys have up your sleeves!

Nice work guys.

To quote myself in this post: "OMG there's a dark mode? yayayayayayayay! =) I was going to complain that all this white and silver looks soooo generic, plain and impersonal (the colour scheme of b.net always seemed to radiate a feeling of hominess and underground fan-base-iness)." Somehow I feel that dark mode should be made default as old members who do not know of this may find the white starkness to be too unfamiliar and so make them less willing to be active in the community. Both old and new members may also find it too impersonal and unfriendly, thus also making them less willing to be active in the community. Just my opinion, but it is something which i really liked about in the old site (and the new with dark mode enabled).

Awesome. Keep it up, Bungie. I love it.
-
Very nice! Each change has been a pretty good inprovement, I think. One thing though, on the dark theme links in the activity section can be a bit hard to read (links are the dark gray text in the image above). I'd like to see this text lightened up a bit (maybe even to blue?), to make this text more readable, and to make it more obvious that the dark text is a link. Keep up the good work!

Another week another tweak.
-
Aww... well, there goes my hope to return to the old site.
-
It looks awesome. I can't imagine how awesome it'll look by the time the beta is over.
-
Huzzah! Dark spoiler tags are fixed. :) Now I feel like I helped. :D

Edited by Death: 2/1/2013 5:38:09 AM1, custom avatars 2, bigger avatars 3, titles(I'm sure you're still working on different names that will correspond with your next game aka destiny) 4, fix the links. When I click the link it takes me out of bungie instead of creating another tab 5,Change font colors[/red] like back in the day.

I'm still having an issue with iOS notification system. I've checked for an update to the app and there isn't one. Is that something that was done on the website or through the app?
-
It would be nice to give someone mod abilities in groups without having to give someone admin, like the old system.
-
fix the mobile site it crashes all the bloody time, also make private groups amazing again (with more awesomeness as well) please.
-
The Office reference.
-
So we're stuck with this #clusterfluff of a #twitter fail now?
-
Nice to know, DeeJ.
3) The "Dark Theme" has been finessed. Can you spot the changes?
Huh? I'm not seeing what he's trying to tell us, anyone mind shining some light on the third update?
