Poor form. You have an alert that gets displayed every time I start a session of matchmaking about how my router "isn't open" (insert orthogonal discussion of how actually, yes, that's a good thing, here) telling me to visit www.bungie.net/router for advice. Except all it does is redirect to www.bungie.net.
Might it not be better for this to do something useful?

works for me

I see you're problem. You're just typing in "bungie.net/router", which indeed does redirect to Bungie Homepage. However type in "www.bungie.net/router", then it'll direct you to the correct page. If it still doesn't work, here's a direct link to the article

Aha, so I see. Foolish of me to assume they'd have a rule redirecting all addresses missing the www. prefix to their counterparts! On my own server I have the following rule, using mod_rewrite: (for domain kapowaz.net) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.kapowaz.net$1 I guess that wouldn't work with IIS though.

Curiously enough though, the article itself makes no mention of specific ports to forward.
If you're (sic) NAT settings display 'Moderate' or 'Strict,' you should consult your router's documentation, either online or in the instruction manual.
Oh, well that's very helpful. "Consult my router's documentation", eh? So effectively we've got one message saying your setup is sub-optimal, go here for instructions on how to fix it, and then at the other end it basically says "to fix it, go read your manual". I can safely say that my router's manual says nothing about Xbox Live, though. What a joke.

Because every brand has a different way of opening the NAT. Sometimes its just as simple as clicking open NAT, sometimes you have to put your xboxs ip in the DMZ zone. You dont usually need to forward ports at all for xbox live but there are ports you can forward to help, i cant recall which but check portforward.com, they should have the details. And for someone that has a knowledge of HTML i would have thought you'd have the means to figure this out for yourself instead of whining on the forums

How would having expertise in HTML have any relevance in configuring port forwarding for routers?
-
It might help if you let us know what kind of router you have.
-
That's a level of irony I just cannot ignore.

I am sorry if this doesnt fit in somehow but it seems to me the problem here is that some people have strict or moderate N.A.T well the simple answer is go onto xbox.com and find the list of compatible routers mind you they can be expensive

The following ports must be available for Xbox Live to operate correctly: • UDP 88 • UDP 3074 • TCP 3074
