Bungie Weekly Update: 10/26/07
A couple of interesting developments in the Halo 3 world, including DLC, Banhammer and yes, Recon helmets.

I don't see what all the hullaballo over the recon helmet is for, why can't people just be happy with what they got. And besides half of the people complaining have yet to beat the game on legendary, ergo they don't deserve any special halo treatz.

The high rez WMV file has alot of parts where the movie kinda "freezes" up a lil and has just that single frame for a few seconds, happens more then once. Am i the only one that has experienced this?Iv'e experienced this "freezing" of frames when converting movies to psp format and i was doing other memory consuming tasks at the same time, so when my computer would hicup the video would come out with those parts hicupped staying on 1 frame fora few seconds, but the sound still playing. Again, has anyone else noticed this with the High Resolution WMV download?

i hate to be just another angry player venting on the forums, but i got my first perfection today by going 20-0 on a team slayer game on High Ground. I got the medal but i didnt get a medal for the running riot at 15 or the one at 20 if there is one (im not sure). i know im wishing against hope but is there ne way you can weave me some magic and get me those, i coulndt thank you enough.

Congratulations on the Recon armor fellas. New maps? Really? Already? OK. Can we get a flaming helmet gamer pic please. Maybe that can solve the crying over how no one else can get that but Bungie Staff or special people. Besides, a gamer pic of a flaming helmet would be pretty sweet. Peace!

So, could making you guys laugh for the recon armor count for something like maybe winning the Marathon 10th anniversary writting contest in the joke category a while back? Cause I did that and there never really was a prize for that. Not that I'm one to complain about stuff like that or be beggin' for prizes or nuthin' but it was worth a shot :) (maybe if you could just get my commando shoulders on the elite model to unlock, that'd be cool enough) Okay, my joke was pretty lame and I probably only won cause there was a lack of entries :( [Edited on 10.28.2007 12:07 AM PDT]

Fix your -blam!- game Bungie. I didn't pay $120 for a game where I beat down first then half a second later get beat down and die. This is more -blam!- than you think. It happens even when I am host on 1.5mbit unlimited connection. Fix this -blam!-.

It's comical.[/quote] You do understand, to make up for the latencies involved with things like host advantage the "simultaneous window" needs to be as large as it is right. The change didn't get rid of the host issue, it just moved it to another area. At a *minimum* this window should be pretty much off for LAN and split screen play and ideally it would be much shorter on XBL. ~telengard

I'm just going to throw this out there, because I'm jealous of the two people who got the Recon helmet. The sniper suicide thing, the one on Last Resort, also happened to me. Now, I did not save this film because I figured it was just a small glitch, no big deal. But now people are getting Recon Helmets for it I'm a little jealous. Anyway, just in case you folks at Bungie find it in your hearts to give it to all players who committed suicide by self-inflicted sniper shots, know that I was one of these people. And, I'm sure you have some record of the game to prove I'm not lying.. and just in case you decide to actually check, It happened on Last Resort, but on the opposite side of where his video was shot. Basically he was shooting towards where I was standing when it happened. It also happened before that guys video was posted. I recently met a guy who used to to work for bungie, Pynion, and he has recon armor. I think its cool that former employees get to have it as well, although he told me you guys didn't give him the fire-helmet. Lol on those 2 suicide videos. And I'm glad to hear that the new banhammerness will cut down on the cheating a bit. I'd say kudos bungie, but I'm positive you guys deserve better than that, so... MEGAKUDOS!!!!!

The melee system does NOT work like Mr. epGotU suggests. Again, I can't count on my fingers and toes how many time I have been beaten down by opponents who I had near death while I carried MORE health and beat them to the melee. It is ridiculous and makes for less than desireable gameplay.

Nice update, looking forward to the DLC. Now as for the recon armor, I think its great that its being let out into the public, despite how small the number of people who have it. I do think that Bungie should give this armor to people that have glitched armor as a sort of compensation. I myself have two pieces of glitched armor, even though I have met and exceeded all the requirements. Please Bungie, this would be a great gift us mere mortals.
