17 y/o sex assault victim faces jail for exposing her attackers

http://yhoo.it/MhyIgn Link now fixed. Broken b/c -blam!- filter. My views in brief: 1) If the boys can post her naked pictures on the internet and send them to other peoples phones, this girl should be able to name her attackers publicly on twitter. 2) The boys should be tried as adults. What retards. They're grown enough to -blam!- women, yet get to cry behind their mother's skirts as the courts go easy on them because they're under 18 in this plea deal? 3) This all would have been prevented if the girl wasn't retarded in the first place, and passed out at that party. Not to say her -blam!- was justified, but ffs people, american tweens & teens need to learn to handle their -blam!-ing liquor, and be more responsible at parties where drugs are involved. Don't get me started on what age is appropriate for what drugs, etc. I've been to germany, and witnessed a 12 y/o kid drinking beer with his family outdoors by this lake for lunch, as it's perfectly ok to do. There's something about this culture that I can't put my finger on where things all too often go terribly wrong when alcohol is involved. Same thing in Italy where a 2 y/o can buy wine from a shop no problem so long as they can speak, as I'm told there are no liquor laws there. 4) Girl is kinda good looking. 7/10 if I rewind back my years to my high school days. What a shame. :P /zips flame suit for #3. [Edited on 07.22.2012 4:02 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: coolmike699
Posted by: SUICIDAL M0NK I, my own siblings, and my friends have had free range to pretty much do whatever we wanted to in this town, near this city in Boston, and at that age.
OK. Now, I want you to imagine something. One day, the police come to your door, telling you that one of your siblings was attacked and -blam!-ly assaulted like the girl in the OP. The assailant pulled a gun on him, and forced him to obey. Now, how much blame are you planning on placing your sibling or on whoever was in charge of your sibling? He/she was in a situation where he was helpless (like the girl in the OP), and they were assaulted (also like the girl in the OP). He chose to go outside, therefore exposing himself to strangers. You suffer from what is called "illusion of control", where you feel like the difference between being assaulted and being fine is a matter of "personal responsibility".
Almost none, if physical threats were used, forced coercion. The girl on the other hand, was completely unconscious, where anyone could have done anything to her without resistance and objection. 2 different scenarios. Just like I said above, that other user getting stabbed? Not his fault. Nothing they could do. Women being overpowered and plucked off the street and raped in other scenarios? Not their fault. This 17 y/o girl doing everything wrong every step of the way, from illegal drug use, to passing out, not bringing a friend looking out for her, etc. She could have done better that night. There are multiple things she could have done differently to not be in that scenario, drinking less, not drinking at all, not showing up, the list goes on. Again, I, nor nobody I know would be in that exact same scenario, passed out drunk then raped. Like mentioned above, having guns and knives pulled on you while you're completely aware and conscious is completely different. There's not much you can do if anything, to keep from being overpowered in that instance. [Edited on 07.23.2012 1:28 PM PDT]
