Lost Season Two Chat and Theory Thread

Ok, season two has finally come and after watching the first episode we can see we aren't going to be as disapointed as last year so here's my theory on what the island is and why "brother"(that guy that was running at the stadium with jack) was in the hatch. I think the island is purgatory. If you don't know what purgatory is then look it up, and you will understand. Questions that need answering: Come up with your own but... 1.) Why does it say "quarentine" on the inside of the hatch? 2.) How the hell did locke get into the hatch by himself? 3.) What was that light that came out of the hatch? 4.) Who are "they"? 5.) Where did those people on the boat bring that little kid? 6.) What was that room that when jack walked by, his key floated towards it as if it was a magnet?

 •
Posted by: dmbfan09
Posted by: TheStanman another mystery i remember, actually a couple: 1. whats with Jack seeing his dead dad alive on the island?
Well... that's a good question. Was it a hallucination, or was he really there? I think it was an island-induced hallucination like Boone's. But the thing is, why was his coffin empty? Jack was arguing with the check-in girl about his father's coffin, and she said it was against regulations. Did the airline take the body out of the coffin and just load the coffin up to trick Jack into thinking he was burying his father? Did the body happen to come out somehow during the crash? I think we will be seeing more about this in the future shows.
2. is the african american's husband and other tail survivors really alive? or is she just crazy?
I think they are alive. Michelle Rodriguez signed on to be a "permanent" on the show. If you remember, she was the one that was having a drink with Jack prior to the flight. She said she was in the back of the plane... seat 42D if I remember correctly. Also, when Boone was talking to somebody on the plane's radio, a very interesting thing was said. I don't have the exact wording, but it went something like this: Boone: SOS. We are the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Man on radio: We are the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Now, that was hard to hear during the showing of that episode. I wasn't sure if it was "We are the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815" or "There are not survivors of Oceanic Flight 815." While watching that episode on DVD, I turned the subtitles on to see what exactly was said, and it was "We..." So, did the survivors of the flight in the tail have a radio somehow? Were they the ones who were on the radio, or was it something even more?
3. what happened to the other raft people? the korean guy and soyer?
We will find out this week. Nobody died right off the bat, since they were all in the commercial I had seen during the Notre Dame game this weekend (Woohoo! Notre Dame won! Stupid goweb and stupid MSU!!!).
4. i remember the one guy, who first discovered the "numbers" during the hurly flashback. he said he heard them in WWII, where a german radio outpost was just broadcasting them over and over. Does this mean the germans made the security system and everything on the island?
I don't believe that they had first heard them during WWII, but during the cold war (they weren't even close to old enough to be veterans of WWII). It happened 16 years ago, when Danielle's crew heard them. The two that heard the numbers 16 years ago were listening to the Pacific Ocean to make sure the Russians weren't doing anything they weren't supposed to. That is when it all started, if you don't include the survivors before that ("Adam and Eve" and the members that might have survived from The Black Rock).
5. remember the locke flashback with the kidney doner thing? what was that all about?
His mother and father tricked him into donating his kidney to his father. His father was dying and needed a kidney transplant. He was old and was still drinking alcohol, so he was very low on the donor list. The only way he would have gotten a kidney was if a family member that was compatible (IE: a son) donated it directly to him. Locke was his only son, so that was the only way to get it. He wanted nothing to do with Locke, only his kidney. So Locke's mother and father betrayed him and used him. If you notice at the end of his flashback after he realizes that he has been used, he is in his car and it looks like he is pretty suicidal and will be doing something stupid. Is this when he got paralyzed? Did he drive his car into a pole or something? Also worth mentioning, this was the episode that he betrayed Boone. There is some parallelism there. Locke and Boone had a father-son relationship (Locke even called Boone "son" at one point in time), and the island asked Locke to sacrifice Boone. He was remembering his father betraying him when he was betraying Boone.
Nicedmbfan09
