IWHBYD Pathway revealed?
Ok, i think I know how to get it, or at least start us off in the right direction, but its extremely complicated:
Ok, at the very beginning of "The covenant", run past the enemies and aim your spartan laser at the anti-air wraith tank. Shot it dead so that the Hornet that spawns flys around in a large circle. Proceed to kill the enemies around you.
Next, when all the enemies are dead, equip yourself with two plasma pistols. Here's where it gets hard. You must time your shot correctly so that the hornet falls closest to the canyon wall. I was able to do it once. On the second try now, very difficult.
When your charged shot hits the hornet, the hornet should power down and begin decending. continue firing charged shots at it so that it does not repower.
When it hits the ground (it needs to hit the ground as if it were landing), jump onto its roof. If you do not do this, then the hornet will flip itself and you will die. You cannot enter the cockpit, you must be on the roof.
Now, the hornet should fly upwards if you shot it at the right spot. It will fly above the canyon wall which you shoudl now jump on. Upon jumping on the canyon wall go right. This is as far as I got. I went left which turned out to be the wrong way to go, causing me to do it again!
You cannot shoot the driver out of the cockpit, and the hornet ALWAYS spawns. There is never a time when it does not. I am currently doing it on normal difficulty.

Man AWESOME theories people! Ive heard theories about it being Johnson's skull, being in 2nd tower on "The Covenant", being on last level near the end, the hornet theory,and the one with the fish. Man one of these has to be right or at least close! Good job every1, i think it will be found soon if we try all of these theories. What happened to the IWBYD skull being in the covenant after you hopped through a certain order of those holographic halo rings near the end of the level?

Correct, you only need the last 7 digits. Once you pick up the skull run back to the the waiting Arbiter and drop down to activate the cutscene. If you drop the skull before that it might not register that you picked it up. Leo Kruegeri - has all the skulls.

Is there a right code now? I tried to jump through the rings, but wasn't getting any audible notes like Halo3Planet was talking about. I tried before Truth was killed and after I killed the flood. Sadly, nothing seemed to happen at all like the rings lighting up or any note when I jumped through any of them. I don't see why it shouldn't have worked since I got the Thunderstorm skull earlier in the level. Can anyone help me out with this? Do I need to be on Heroic or Legendary to get it?

They both worked. I'm not sure why they didn't for you.

IMPORTANT! START FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE MISSION, ON NORMAL, HEROIC, OR LEGENDARY IN ORDER TO GET ANY SKULL! The Skull is located in the level, “The Covenant”. no. you can do it as fast or slow as you want. and if you mess up, just jump off the edge and start over

I used the haloplanet (with-out the 1,1) and it worked for me. Still need to get a few other skulls though.

the rings each have a different tone as you are in close proximity to them, they don't give off a distinctive note as you jump through them. to really be able to hear them you need to kill all the flood so the music from the level stops. once you jump through them in the right sequence all of the rings will flash progressively, then the halo theme will start to play.

in one of the reversed terminals, it says archive deactivated, another sayd protocol pruged (?) and other says protocol active, i could be wrong

i dont know if anyone has posted this but you only need about 1/2 of the numbers then led to believe before they are 1 3 4 6 7 5 4 6 5 4 5 3 4 i just did it and it works

When attempting to get this skull, can you still get it even if you are killed and need to go back to a previous checkpoint? Also, how loud is this supposed noise that the rings give? Is it any bit noticeable, and can you only hear said noise if you're doing it right?

Yes you can be on lcoal co-op, that is confirmed since thats how I got it.
