  • For those who didn't read the article, or read it properly; this is how it works: You line the scope up on the target, and press a button; this puts a marker on it, and tracking software will keep this mark on the target, even if it's moving. When the crosshair is not on the marker, the trigger is very hard to pull; you could still pull it, but it wouldn't be particularly easy. When the crosshair is on the marker, the trigger pressure goes back to normal, and pulling the trigger will result in a far higher chance of hitting the target. Uses of this system? When hunting, this makes it easier to kill in one shot, and to hit the target on the first shot. When teaching other people how to fire, this allows you to have other people watch how you're aiming / lining up the shot. As for using this weapon on humans; it could be used this way, but the fact that you need to line up the target, mark them, then aim up the crosshair before firing - all through a magnified scope - means that it'd only work if you were trying to assassinate someone - as this has only been installed on bolt-action rifles (for a purpose), it means it would be less useful in a massacre than a cheap pistol.

  • Less auto-aim, more 'here's your target, here's the dot, put the x over the dot and pull the trigger'. Auto-aim is so -so in vidya games, but IRL it's useless.

  • I think it is really cool that people took what was once a method to cheat at video games and made it possible to cheat at "real life". The technology is damn cool, but the application has me concerned. Pair this technology with the drone swarm technology currently being researched and developed and we could have some very frightening automated drones patrolling areas with the ability to independently seek and destroy targets. Scary and awesome at the same time.

  • So now we don't need to teach people to shoot? Are you guys just asking for massacres?
