So why were the
promithians following around a space zombie that lived in the Death Star? The plot didn't make any sense.

In my mind I like to say its hard light shield... closest thing that makes sense to me. I love how they tried to skip over the impossibility of that occurring though by having Cortana say "I'm the weirdest thing you've seen all day?"
