Posted by: Jinny Wow... Like I said on other forums... Wow. A pistol used for 140 years plus, that is damn well sad. And I did say sad. For a intersteller they are pretty much outdated like some third world country. Heck, they should just arm their troops with AK-47s and send them to fight. I see it as the United States still using the bolt action rifles from World War I as standard issue. I've let the UNSC slide with somethings when it came to the Halo Universe, their medicine, their technology, their unrealitic weapons, and their vehicles -which can be included in their vehicles but c'mon, not one insteller "empire" would keep a weapon that long, bigger and better things would have to come along. Bungie... sorry but in this update... your Halo Bible just stumbled. Great... I most likely sturred up a hornet's nest of flamers. *Get's M1 Garand* Bring it. What about the m1911? almost that old! we still use it not wide spred of course and its been upgraded jus as the M6. i think thats what they might have been gettin at. I along with plenny of other troops would take the 1911 of an m9 or several other more current sidearm. Are you frickin' kidding me? The M1911 that old piece of junk, and yes I said junk is a accident waiting to happen, my RoTC commanders told me many tales of that gun jamming, or pulling a stovepipe *The round failing to eject from the chamber* and causing them to hastly reload their primary weapon where as it could've cost them their lives. They even called it a piece of junk. And the M1911 has gotten upgrades over the years so considering the fact it isn't the same weapon as it was sixty years ago, considering that the article doesn't make it sound like the UNSC pistol had gotten upgrades so I would still like to see why in the world are they still using a pistol that is 140 years old. A 140 years is a very long time, and I doubt any compentent military would keep a weapon around that long... No wonder the UNSC is losing the war. hey im mil. myself and in my ole ROTC 4 years ago my higher ups said they loved now then modern day pea shooters. weapons jam it happens and ive yet to see a game that realistic cept maybe parts of GOW. and of course the 1911 wasnt the greatest when it 1st came around but it was a solid design, and since the UNSC is so far ahead in the future im sure they started with a much more solid design then even the 1911 thus giving it a long life. if it aint broke why fix it? it still is a fine tool for taking away life. and i think the varients could be considered upgrades. Well if you consider the ain't broke, why fix it logic, we would still be using Muskets because it was an effective weapon and it did it's job rather well. The point is, is that if you can better -do it. That's why America is a Superpower today (yes I know I'm getting off topic), because they view it as so. What does do? Okay, can we make it better. Yes? How so. The "Aint broke why fix it" logic is obsolete. It's more like, it's old, let's make something new and ten times better. And then it's more like a matter of opinion, my Commanders said it was junk, yours said it was good. well a pistol that can kill THE toughest super soilder of the day in four headshots from across the map with a scope... thats pretty far up there id wanna hang onto it for awhile. what more do you want it to do? aim at the ground fire it opens a slipstream hole goes through the planet and kill someone on the other side? bigger ammo cap and full auto like a SMG? shoot lazers? i say for the job it does its preddy muchas good as it can get with out getting crazy. sur eya could make it mopre like the plasma pistole but whats eazier to kill someone with? i say it has its place and is preddy well balenced. sides its only a game. ;) Calm down buddy... No need to go AWOL. Considering that the true storyline was to be played on Legendary, anything kills a Spartan. And full auto is possible, but something I want to see. I'm not really angry about the pistol itself, it's the way they described it. The one hundred and forty years old thing just bugged me for something that is being used my the Human "Empire."
Uh, do you even know what "AWOL" means? Obviously not...seeing is how you coined the term incorrectly. "AWOL" stands for Absent Without Official Leave. Leave is to the military as vacation is to civilians. Basically you just told him not to go anywhere without telling anyone, which he obviously wasn't going to do seeing is how he is posting on the forum. [Edited on 08.22.2007 12:01 PM PDT]
Posted by: Hobbsilius
Posted by: CARDO 8 i am surprised to find that no one else has mentioned anything about the 2x-scope. i have officially peed my pantaloons.
what, for the pistol? if so, then you may be disappointed. the scope mentioned there was for other variants of the M6 series handguns (the B and D models iirc). And those may not be in the game.
I understand that. I am confident and happy that the H3 Campaign and MatchMaking will not have a scoped pistol. BUT - Bungie is not blind to what its consumers want. They said that the custom settings would be vast. I am willing to bet that weapon modifications will be available in custom games. If so - I would expect the option to modify the pistol (among other weapons) to have these basic CUSTOM GAME modifications: Scoped/ unscoped, faster/slower rate of fire, variable clip capacity, and increase/decrease damage, single/dual-wieldable [Edited on 08.21.2007 5:49 PM PDT]

Also did you notice that "Weapon System Technologies M90" = "WSTM-90", and the shotgun from Marathon 2 & Infinity was the WSTM-7? Looks like Bungie hasn't changed weapon suppliers or phonetic humor.

What about the unexplained giant purple and orange gun in the EGM article. On p71 there's an E.V.A. spartan holding something that looks like a purple and orange fuel-rod cannon shooting out blue madness.

I'd say you guys are idiots for thinking Bungie would give you guys back the closest thing to the M6D. Bungie already established that the M6D was overpowered, and the same ammo and clip means nooby-ness all over again, especially with dualing. Think about this, the Mauler has 5 shots, dual it and it has 10 shots, and M90A Shotty power. Now, look at ALL 3 Pistols in the Halo Trilogy, the M6D and M6C were totally different. and from what we can tell, none of the weapons have changed their ammo count since trhe beta, so why the Pistol, the subject of arguements and fanboy dreams, be what you want it? I'd say Bungie used the 12 round clip to make you all THINK you get your M6D back, but if you stack up the nozzle's size you get 8 shots, considering the lifting mechanism. The Battle Rifle was meant to replace the M6D in Halo 2, and so far, its doing that, and the M6G would be the improved version of the M6D and M6C. the way the BR works with M6C ammo actually gives it its connection to the Magnum. Besides, Bungie is lessening the clips of the weapons that have too much a big clip, so, what weapon would have too much powerful ammo? The Pistol. So, look at how much the clip sticks out, clearly not 12 bullets can fit considering the lift mechanism. Remember Bungie's sence of humor. n_n

What they need to do is have a mod or something that will allow you to have all 3 Halo weapons in the same game. Like having the Halo 1 pistol vs the Halo 2 pistol, its no match but you will be able to get the best facts with all the weapons. Or seing how much powerful the Halo 1 shotgun is compared to the Halo 2 shotgun.

Description: The M6 series are recoil-operated and magazine-fed. The ‘B’ and ‘D’ variants are issued with the smart-linked KFA-2 x2 scope. It fires 12.7mm x 30 semi-armor-piercing high-explosive ammunition (standard issue). M6 series handguns are issued in three different finishes: hard chrome, black polymer, and electroless nickel. If the pistol comes in black polymer, we have an answer to the E3 trailer, when MC pulls a gun towards Arbiters head. The gun was a pistol, in black polymer!

I never would have noticed. Yeah come to think about it actually, if it hadn't been for the flashy advertising, the beta did actually look a bit like Halo 1 I guess. http://aycu27.webshots.com/image/24306/2005823406597377367_rs.jpg Actually no, thats a lie. They didn't look like Halo 1 at all, they looked completely different, and much, much better. What are you smoking? Next time you have something to say, think about it first before opening your uneducated little mouth. Also, if the SMG uses caseless ammo, why is there an ejection port?
