Secondly, these forums aren't just some small, closed circle forums. There are thousands and thousands of people who come here, and maintaining a system that can handle that kind of traffic is not going to be that easy. So chill, and just be patient until you can get back on. Besides, Halo 2 will be out soon anyway.

It would be nice to have the forums working, but there really are better things that you could do, such as reading a book or perhaps *gasp* studying for school(if you attend school, that is). [Edited on 10/10/2004 8:26:28 PM]

Lol, I know that's my fault.

Oh my God. The forums are working - they're just having trouble coping under all the traffic. Bungie know, and they do try their best to get them working again. Stop being so ungrateful.
-
No forums with this much traffic, no matter how well funded, can operate at 100% all the time. The boards do have the occasional hiccup when reorganizing needs to be done, and temporary shutdowns are necessary when performing maintanance and updates. Welcome to the internet. Things don't always work, so you're just gonna have to deal with it.

Well, I would put my 5 cent in this convo, but everyone said it for me. =)

i think they owe it there fans, to have at least a place that dosnt break down every hour, i dont care how much traffic there is.. i've never heard or seem a forum break down so many times..

Time to ask for your money back. Oh wait, B.net doesn't cost anything! Oooops, sorry. *flips the sarcasm switch to "off"* I just don't know how that keeps getting turned on. I've never seen a game company with such huge fan membership for their forums. While it is true that I don't have easy access to such information to make an actual comparison, the other game sites that I have been to, are typically "downstream" and offer very little opportunity for interaction. Fan-created and maintained sites are another matter, but they don't have the sheer volume that B.net obviously gets. I understand that you (as a fan) have a right to think that they owe you (and all fans) certain things. As for me, I don't feel that I am due anything from Bungie. I only have the hope (and belief) that they will continue to make kickass games. After that, everything else is gravy. Good gravy, but gravy nevertheless. Mmmmmmmmm..... Graaaavy

I do believe the answer to the question of what's owed - can be answered by looking at my signature.

it is funny how people are expecting more and more for nothing... maybe funny isn't the correct word. sad? pitiful? [Edited on 10/11/2004 12:49:40 PM]

The Bungie forum is slightly more popular than most others. It gets a lot of traffic, and as such the limited resources will be used up more quickly. However, Achronos is a better person to ask about the details.

Romulan post decloaking.

Think of ti this way: If Bungie was a normal company, they would only maintain their site enough to keep people interested and buying their games. Do you think that is all Bungie does? I don't. [Edited on 10/11/2004 10:11:41 PM]

You'd be surprised the amount of work going into fixing and optimizing forums. Hopefully it's self-evident Bungie is aware of the issue and wants to correct it very badly. You'll note today things are better. Small steps. -=DRB=-

Nothing like an impending flood to get those ark-building skills up to speed, eh? Things definitely ARE better this evening. So far. *wink*

Man. I don't know what just happened but the pages for the forums are loading like lightening now. Not like...non-lightening.
Posted by: antiherosk8er yea real fast! all of a sudden it said system failer then bam the page loads so fast.
Have you seen the system failure message again? Did it happen once or multiple times? And did you hear a "bam" when the page loaded fast or was it "blam!"?

Woah, why do you have a custom sig, and why are you called a "Bungie.net Superuser"? Is It because you have been a member for a long time?
Posted by: un gato Woah, why do you have a custom sig, and why are you called a "Bungie.net Superuser"? Is It because you have been a member for a long time?
He's a bugger. He bugs stuff. For Bungie. He's like a user, only super.

the forums are only getting boged down and running slow because of all the extra attention they have been getting due to advertising and the impending release date. and bungie dont owe YOU anything. they can do watever the -blam!- they want.

The forums got lots better last night (you probably noticed they got more responsive). That was us patching them to fix Internal Server Error issue. The forums should be fast right now. The only downside is that you'll notice about a 1 minute delay for updates to occur to the forum listings. We're going to reduce that delay as soon as we know how much we can lower that "cache" time. There is one other major issue regarding "Service Unavailable" messages, but other than that, from here on out you should notice the forums being much better than they were before.
