I've called my local police dept (not through 911) for a deer with a broken leg in my backyard. They came out, said it wasn't exhibiting signs of stress and to leave it alone. They said if it was still there in a day or 2, to call back, so they can shoot it. It ran away. I was sad. They would've let me kept it so I could turn it into venison.
