Should we colonize the moon or something and send our most dangerous criminals there? Or maybe make a prison station (sort of like the one in lockout, with smarter security guards). This way we don't have to worry about the amount of space prisons take up here, and have virtually no worries about if they escape. Honestly, where are they gonna go if they break out?
What do you guys think?
-
thats just stupid, prisoners hardly ever break out on Earth. Is it really that much of a problem that we need to spend billions of a space prison?
-
No. There are already very few breakouts as it is. Sending them to the moon would cost so much money...
-
No we should go to the moon and leave the prisoners here.
-
Absolutely.
-
We should put them in a capsule that they can barely fit in then shoot them into the sun.
-
If they started doing that, I would commit a crime just to go to space.
-
This is too expensive to do . . . at the moment.
-
-blam!- prisoners, I want to go to space.
-
waste of cash innit
-
It's a great idea, but what about all the -godwinslaw!- and aliens already on the moon?
-
Why would we put it on the moon? We might actually want to use that later.
-
Didn't they make a movie about this?
-
Yeah because we don't spend too much money on prisons anyway.
-
Yeah, because this plan worked so well in MIB III.
-
We should send them to Mordor.
-
That's how humanity in the Starcraft universe explored the stars!
-
Yes, let them float around the cosmos in a space tub until the cosmic wizard or the spaghetti slugs devour them.
-
No way in hell. Why should we send convicted criminals to space for free, when we could send law-abiding who actually want to go to space?
-
Provided we're being humane (which I sincerely hope we would be in such a scenario), the cost of food, oxygen, warmth, and gravity (because letting the prisoners' muscles degrade would be cruel) would be - pardon the pun - astronomical.
-
Screw the moon, just put them into a pod and launch that shit deep into space. And put cameras on board so we could see how far away from earth they can get before they all die.

Edited by History HD: 1/21/2013 8:02:33 AMIs such a thing even possible? The answer is a resounding...YES. The History Channel approves. ...Far fetched? NOT AT ALL! Let's make a show about it! "LUNA PRISON" "History: Made up Every Day"
-
Yeah, because that worked out great in Lockout... :P
-
As I bet many people have already said, holding prisoners is already extremely expensive, space would do more than exponentially increase that cost. Would be cool though.
-
Like Men In Black 3?
-
Deep space perhaps. But I can see Mars becoming Space Australia. That was a prison colony originally, right?
-
That's how things went and Starcraft happened.
