Some tweaks for the "You're gonna leave this site" warning

This thing is a great thing, but I feel it could use some tweaking. When a user clicks on the link, it opens it in a new tab/ window, depending on the user's browser configuration. However, when the user goes back to Bungie.next, it's still there. Can it go away, so when we flip back to bungie, we are back to the thread, not a warning dialog? Also, I feel like there should be a whitelist for known safe sites. We put loads of photos on imgur, Photoubucket, etc. If the domain is from said "safe sites" I think we should not see the warning message at all. But that's totally my opinion. Lastly, we should have the option of not seeing it anymore. Perhaps you could put a checkbox that says "Prevent this from displaying"? When you get threads like these that have many links to many different sites, it becomes irksome to use. Thanks!

        Here's a script to remove it.
// ==UserScript== // @name NoMessage // @description Remove the warning message when clicking a link on bungie.net // @version 0.1 // @namespace Zebra // @include http://bungie.net/* // @include http://www.bungie.net/* // @include http://bungie.com/* // @include http://www.bungie.com/* // @include https://bungie.net/* // @include https://www.bungie.net/* // @include https://bungie.com/* // @include https://www.bungie.com/* // ==/UserScript== function addJQuery(callback) {var script = document.createElement("script");script.setAttribute("src", "http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js");script.addEventListener('load', function() {var script = document.createElement("script");script.textContent = "(" + callback.toString() + ")();";document.body.appendChild(script);}, false);document.body.appendChild(script);} addJQuery(main); function main() { setTimeout(function(){ jQuery(".externalLink").removeClass('externalLink').attr('target', '_blank'); },500); jQuery(document).live('DOMNodeInserted', function(event){ jQuery(".externalLink").removeClass('externalLink').attr('target', '_blank'); }); }
Use it with GreaseMonkey or TamperMonkey on Chrome.

      • I feel they should just offer an option to turn it off. The only time I'd see it as useful is for meatspin and the like. Most people check the links anyway.

      • I just want an option to remove the warning. I know the dangers of the internet.

        • I agree that the warning should go away when clicked, but the "safe sites" list is implausible. You can easily put shock images / porn on imgur or photobucket.

        • I am not new to the internet. I know how to read a url before clicking on it. I'd like to get rid of this warning. I understand why it was added- it's a good thing, but it is annoying to me.

          • I hate 'warning' boxes. yes, i know i am leaving the site. no, i dont care if you know what may be on the other sites. its almost like saying 'warning, there may be fresh air outside'. yes, i know. thats why i am leaving and going there. this isnt the only site i use on the internet.

          • When I click on a link I just click the scroll wheel to open it in a new tab (which I like) and it bypasses the warning.

              I agree. Bungie.next has a surplus of pop-ups in general.

              I think having that having the pop up disappear after you click the link is a great idea, as is an opt-out option. I'm not sure about the whitelist, after all, people could put up some crazy stuff on an image sharing site. I think opt out would be plenty.

              I avoid those warnings by opening new tabs. I don't have this problem. However, I agree with what you say, in that certain "safe sites" should not trigger the warning.

            • You can just middle click it to open automatically, however I don't think this warning tag is necessary. I think Bungie should just get rid of it entirely.

              • There can be very NSFW pics in Imgur/Photobucket etc, but I still think you should have the option to turn it off!
