Legacy of the Warlord

[Chapter One] Since time immortal many have striven to rise above to become pillars of a race. Sangheili have for generations rose to meet the challenges of the day. Some have come far from the rank and file of ordinary beings to become something truly great. This can be true. Yet this is not the norm. Each face great events that shaped them in some way. Leaders always need those who are willing yet, can control them in some way. Even the greatest of Hero's must face this one of many truth's. Powers that be have many ways of ending such a being if they see fit. Covenant have many mechanisms in place to keep those in line. Adherence to a Religion based on a dead race of advanced beings. Punishment for those who disobey. Those who turn away from this are Heretics. Forever banished or exiled from that races home world. Nomads to wander space. Yet hidden in between the political zealots religion are those who serve. They serve to collect information. Some serve as Eliminators who dispatch rivals or sabotage enemy's plans. I serve in this shadow area. Unlike others i did not serve the Prophets. Whom i served was important. Yet some whisper about me. About who i served. I say let them whisper. His legacy will carry beyond the Ninth Age of Reclamation. [Edited on 09.30.2012 5:00 PM PDT]

  • [10 Cycles ago,High Charity] Klones awoke he got up from his sleeping pod. He missed living at the Warlords estate but he was apprenticed off when he did his age of maturity ritual. He dressed quickly not waking his other podmates. He was required to wear armor during a time of war. Carry a weapon as well. Taking a Plasma Rife from the storage pod near his door he exited. He wanted to shake off his bad dream. Being chased by shadow things. He came face to face with the one he defeated. Alton'iss called on the frenzy feeders to rip his flesh apart as he was drawn under the lake. It was a dream that had happened. Each Sangheili must undergo training for the right of maturity. Two Aspirants face off on a rock at a dangerous lake. This final test weeds out those who are weak. Some who are lucky might live. Others usually die. Alton'iss was well trained but he stuck to it. It was his downfall when my staff hit his leg out of instinct. I Used my staff to hit his chest while off balance. I can see him in slow motion as he trys to grab my staff. I could not take back what started. He was unable to grab it. Turning away i can hear his screams. I was no better than he. My sudden inspiration defeated my opponent. I was allowed to honor the gods. Some make it even defeated. They are given secondary roles. Yet my memories are fresh. He had every advantage. Some how i prevailed. Pushing aside these brooding thoughts for now. Taking a lift up to a quiet spot he found. Passing a network of bulkheads connected with bridges he stepped inside a dimly lit room. It had a stunning view to space. His mandibles clicked excitedly. Blast panels could be slid in place in case of attack. Yet it was the one place he could be alone. Coming to High Charity was a great honor. He was to study Religion as an Acolyte. In secret however, It became apparent he was being trained to Spy, Sabotage or even Assassinate. Being lead off from his studies was at times frustrating. A black armored warrior would instruct him on many things. His Battle Chaplin would return to take him back as it never happened. Unsure what was expected of him he stared off into the cold reaches of space. Huge see through panels allowed one to look out into such a void. It relaxed him to be here. He felt the warm embrace of the shadows. It kept him safe. [Edited on 10.03.2012 2:00 PM PDT]
