•
Posted by: ROBERTO jh ...Except that's exactly what they're doing....... So the Covenant are in the game, as a secondary force, like the Flood were. The humans are there too. Big whoop. That suddenly throws all of the new stuff out the window? What, is a study of Cortana now impossible because an Elite is in the game? Is it impossible, now, for the Chief to be out of his element just because there are humans around? The Chief is out of his element because the enemies he is facing are beyond his abilities to handle. He is out of his element because he has to deal with a Commander who does not respect him, or Cortana. He is out of his element because he may need to go against his superior's orders and do what he, personally, feels is right. He is out of his element because he now has a close, inimate relationship with a dying, crazy AI. For a detatched, ask-no-questions super soldier, I'd say he's out of his element. But nope, there are humans in the game. Everything that could have been is now lost.
You don't understand what I meant, and I didn't really imply it which is my fault. The key word in my post was primarily. Adding the Humans and Covenant to the game put us in familiar territory from the get-go. Even if there are things in the game that are new, and there is what I described above there it is still backed by the traditional setting of any Halo game. It solidifies the gameplay to a particular theme. The only game that broke this was ODST, and that's because we lost of of the two defining elements of a Halo game - Being a supersoldier. The gameplay of ODST was entirely different and gave us a glimpse of what Halo could become. You list all of these things that are putting MC out of his element, but the setting itself is not so. You entire list is still grounded in a traditional Halo scenario which will lessen the blow of such things. I'd have preferred to see Chief dealing with Cortana and her possible rampancy alone. Without orders, without the help of any command. No mission, just what he wants and what he thinks is right. That would be out of his element.
