So you know how there's this huge sphere ship that is hanging above Earth's Last City and is protecting it from the Alien Badguys? Either that thing is a robotic drone from that Ship, or it's a robotic drone created by humans that was inspired from the design of the ship. I imagine it could relay orders or provide sensor / diagnostic stuff.
