For how long has this been planned.

I just saw the destiny logo in an old reach vidoc from 2010. How long has this been planned for? Link: http://i.imgur.com/9cBRH.jpg (look at his hat) Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0_jiB2hqeQ&feature=watch-vrec [Edited on 11.27.2012 8:23 PM PST]

 •
Posted by: CrazzySnipe55 So, at this point, we can place the beginning of the production/conceptual design of Destiny anywhere from 8 years ago (November 2004, just after Halo 2 was released, after which Jason Jones was given no credit for having worked on a Halo game for 5 years), to 4 years ago (about a year before the release of ODST; this is assuming that some time between September 2008 and September 2009 brainstorming, storyboarding, and conceptual design on Destiny had progressed to a point that they were able to add an Easter Egg about a crucial, and concrete plot device before the game shipped, which is a bit slim, IMO). So thats' a 4 year window. Even if you take the mean of that you're still looking at a game that's 6 years in development in one way or another. They could easily be working on the first Comet by now, especially since we know Multiplayer is up and running and there is a working build of the Destiny at this point as per DeeJ saying that the Bungie team spent Bungie Day playing the game against one another. ©
At this stage I would say they would barely be at pre-alpha stage. New IPs are very hard to make in this age, especially with a new engine. Bungie has a team of roughly seven writers writing the story for Destiny. Halo 1 had roughly 3 writers, Jason included.
