I rarely come across modern music with the same emotion, meanings, and feeling as say a Moody Blues song, or a Who song. When I do, it's usually a pretty obscure band and I get sad because of it. [/quote] Lyrics and vocals are the big things for me. I saw Rush a few weeks ago and technically they were fantastic. I just prefer something I can get into. It's odd. I respect the superior "music", but the variety of emotions and styles that go into Pop Punk music have sucked me in. [/quote] See, I'd kill to see Rush because of the themes and emotion present. Something about the stories Geddy Lee tells. See, Pop Punk isn't bad. Bands like No Doubt and The Offspring are fun to listen to, but I don't really get out what I get out of Pink Floyd, or Rush, or The Who, etc... [/quote] It's understandable, my friend's the same way. It's just two different aspects of music I think. I live in Jacksonville so I like to go to the bars and see local punk bands, i'm generally not referring to bands you've heard of (not trying to sound like a hipster). It's cool seeing the effort poured out into these small gigs.
