heh..i consider myself a truer halo fan than you are- i can offer criticism to make the game better. i have a good idea of what the story is- i've read all the pertinent novels and so forth...but even so, can you disagree with the potential for better graphics? ok...crazy....you are an idiot....STOP WORRIYING ABOUT THE GRAPHIX.....its about the story...about the LOVE of halo we all have.It is an amazing experience,....i would buy it even if it had 8 BIT TEXTURES.....you all should be ashamed!!!! this is going to be the best thing that has ever happened in your LIVESSSSS..... And just incase you still care about Gears looking better....I know...i have gears...i love it! multiplayer and singleplayer alike.... but 2 things: 1.) Gears has no antilag system....you have a bad connection? your shots wont register the instant you pull that trigger...look at halo 2... i've played halo 2 on a 132kb/s connection..and it STILL didnt lag...it didnt affect my gameplay at all!... think of all the nubbins using dsl on xbox live...and think of all the lag you DONT get. its the freaking year 2006. All of you should have 6 down and ATLEAST .5 up. 2.) look at the cinematics in gears... the PRE-RENDERED cinematics when you are outside...oh look! your fps drops about 40!!!!!!! and it's PRE-RENDERED....and now you'll say *oh but halo 2 did that same thing!!!*.... STFU NUB!!!! it was the xbox!!! i have a pentium 3 running faster than that thing...thing back to halo....2nd level....you just beat that barrage of covenant dropships while you were with all the marines in the castle like forerunner structure....the warthog comes down and you drive up that hill...what do you see? An absolutely breath taking canyon. With the sun comming down...the sound of birds, the trees in the wind...the sound of your beastly hog's engine humming. this scene is atleast 2miles squared! it looked so amazing i showed my entire family on christmas day (the first day i actually got my hands on halo) i was so proud to be a part of this....i was master chief, saving the world, i was Valence Electron living through this story, and talk about the story!!! what an epic twist towards the end...two betrayals....dear lord, it was sooo un expected. Bungie diserves more than this. You all need to apologize. Bungie may enslave you one day...but hell...i would much rather be enslaved by the great minds at bungie than any one else!!!

gears of war wasnt all cramped corridors dude...it had some really, really nice looking outdoor environments. plus, the announcement trailers definately did not have as good as graphics as the unreal engine is putting out right now. the biggest problem i have with the screenshots is..well...there's nothing mindblowing here like halo 1. halo 1 surprised everyone. halo 2 was more of the same, but introducing halo 2 to xbox live was huge. now, at least based on the screenshots, we only seem to get a new vehicle, some new guns, and a cannon that basically does the same thing a glitch in halo 2 did. of course there's the issue of the graphics..i was one that initially thought it was a halo 2 screeie for an expansion or something- besdies the different vehicles/weapons/map. sure, its not in the final stages, but im saying even now, it just doesnt look like it will even compare to its (what i consider) main competitior, gears of war. and dont speculate what you *think* halo 3 will look like- i'll believe it when i see it. so bottom line...screenshots seem subpar. graphics dont have to be uber stellar, but surprising gamers much like halo 1 did with solid, new and refreshing gameplay should be a priority. because it is the halo 2 hand. notice the 5 dots instead of the new spartan's 3 dots. this can only mean two things. one that bungie overlooked the fact to make all spartans alike for the screenshots(unlikely) or that there is another spartan in the mix. we somehow need to steel the bungie halo bible and find out. or read the third installment of the halo book series, or wait for halo 3 [Edited on 12/3/2006]

in the spartan laser first person view, it looks like halo 2, the hand armor and graphics look like halo 2

no your putting words in my mouth i said graphics nothing else, like if the gameplay was atomic genious. not a pile of -blam!-e and my questions was would you still buy the game if the graphics wasnt to your expectations? perhaps better than these shots but you thought there still not good enough cus you want more? (think of it as being greedy) thats was my question but i mean i want it too be great aswell, i expect it to be the best game on the 360 but im not expecting it to be the best on all areas. but its annoying to see people saying it looks like halo 2...when it doesnt...i really dont know, when i look i see more detail, i see every single detail in master chiefs armour..(not so on the multiplayer pics though) but i think this will be great, but i just hate judging and crtitising so harshly when its still such early days. halo was a greatest game of all tiem like so many other titles like the zelda you mentioned..hell goldeneye, was the best james bond game ever and it didnt have impressive all out graphics but they were still freakin awsome and id still play on them today.., so was halo 2 and the 3 should follow suit. i hope im right in hopeing that the graphics will be like what they shown at e3, i hope i am right in thinking they still have a lot of graphical work to do and the final product will look awsome prettier then gears but not as detailed perhaps, because this game doesnt need to unless your going through ruined terrain ofcourse. but are you sure pushing bungie so hard will really make them work harder we dont know the stress behind making a game and trying to please high expecting customers?? but all im saying is ive looked at these screens on a HD moniter and screen and they look pretty much damn Good when you get up close and really see what bungie has put in. But im sure many peoiple wish for them to look better and im sure our mind will change soon enough and im sure that hardly any of maps and so are are finished just basics of the maps, hopefully, they hadnt animated moving grass shards yet, i am expecting more i hope they deliver and im sure they will and you guys saying it looks like halo 2 will withdraw comment...i hope. oh ,so you are saying even if bungie make a piece of junk,ppl will buy it just because it has a halo3 name on the cover.if this game turns out to be a disappointment,may be ppl will not buy it,they will just read the review and then rent it somewhere like gamefly just to know what is goin on in the story. what is wrong with you.of course we want halo3 to be as great as possible,of course we want to push bungie as hard as we can to give their best into making this game.besides,next-gen games have really really high expectations,do you know majority of the games on the nex-gen systems are not even qualified to be next-gen games. i personally want this game to be the greatest game of all-time,to be highest rated game ever,even higher than legend of zelda ocarina of time.[/quote]

I also hope you can play other character models. I think it would be awesome if you could play in multiplayer as a grunt, a brute, a Marine, etc.

2 questions: 1.) I can see from the screen shots (and also read in the EGM article) that there is no ring? Why? 2.) Will there be a map editor. I can see the repeating patterns in the textures (Only because I really looked. They aren't obvious.). This is something I've always noticed when building levels in other games, like FarCry. A map editor would be ultra cool. I love building my own maps! If we aren't going to be seeing more players in a game, I hope we at least get a map editor.

Ok,why do people keep saying that they want it to look better than gears?Do you realize the difference in scale in the two games?Gears of War's enviroments are small,and highly detailed.There's no thirty mile wide chasms.Cascading mountain ranges.Beautiful astomshperic particles and haze to with that.If The Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion took place in an alternate Cyrodiil that was say,six square miles,instead of sixteen,the would have looked alot better.It's the scale,my friends.Halo 3's gonna freaken gonna huge.Unlike Gears,which is a blan,dark,and small.Halo 3 being bright,vivd,and huge.Note the word,HUGE.Not small hallways,with no maore than fifteen people on screen,but massive,jaw dropping scenery,with lots,and lots humans,covies,(possibly flood),all battleing it out on earth.SO how do the two compare?They don't.Two seperate games,that take place on a different scale. p.s I think the announcement trailer looks way the hell better than gears.
