Bungie Weekly Update
Short and sour this week, with some interesting snippets, but mostly stuff that will make fans of certain matchmaking playlists really angry and abusive. So to them, we apologize in advance.

i dont really care that you are removing these playlists that much, but i wish you would at least tell us before hand that you might be getting rid of it in the future, so some people dont waste so much time getting their ranks up and then have it removed and be a whole waste of thier time, when they could be playing other things that will still be there in the furure

swat was the playlist that eeryone went into when you didn't know what to play. they were quick 4-5 min. games and you can go up (or down) fast.

I agree with most of what is said here. The main problem I have with taking team swat out though is that team swat is a playlist that was basically invented by us! The players! Bungie listened to all the players, saw what they were inventing themselves and playing with their friends, and then created team swat because of that. So, why take away something the majority of halo 2 players love and came up with themselves? I can somewhat understand the whole matchmaking reason behind it, but the players should come first. Not the matchmaking productivity. Does this make sense? [Edited on 11/18/2006]

Id have to say my time in matchmaking was about 90% swat, 9% team slayer, and 1% other. Im pretty disappointed that they are taking it out. For those of you who say it doesnt take any skill, i say your wrong. The best thing about it was it forced you to work on your reaction time, sneaking, and team tactics. Sure you got the occasional jack ass that would get 1 kill and 20 deaths but thats just part of it. Oh well im sure Bungie will redeem themselves as they always do.

^Exactly what he said.^ I've tried through the years not to be critical of Bungies choices for matchmaking, but I can't remain mute on this one. By taking away a hugely popular game type, you are forcing people to play a different gametype they don't want to play. And if it is forced, it will take away form the gametypes the Swat overflow ends up in, and that's not really fair to the fans of those playlist. If people wanted to play BTB, or Snipers, or what ever, they would be playing it. They're not. They're playing Swat. Give the fans what they want. As it stands, I do not plan to renew my subscription, as Swat was the only game I tended to play on Live.

That new Campaign screenshot looks -blam!- sick. Good work, Bungie. About the Team SWAT removal; I really liked Team SWAT (for however long I actually did play it). Sad to see it go.

what kind of good update is that? Come on bungie, okay maybe a playlist has to go but if your going to take one of the best ones, at least replace it with a new better one

Good update, would love to have some more info on H3 and screenshots but well......... Sad that Multi-team has to go. Loved it so much. It was rather hilarious to play. Team Swat I never really liked, especially when it became ranked. There was a lot of Blam crap going on in there. Getting shot around corners, through walls. Stuff like that, and no there's no skill involved in that, only some mods that are less noticed then the obvious "running at mach 1, jumping 500 ft high and giving headshots as he goes" modders. There are much more subtle mods that gives ones shield (even in Swat where there are no shields) a tat more robustness or tweaks the autoaim just enough to be not to conspicious but to make you lose every time you face the person in question. I wish that these could be fixed somehow. O and lets not forget the bxr-bxb and double shotting cheats floating around. And no, these are NOT skills, every moron can do it.

I'm all for taking out action sack. Those games were just...well bad, but why would you put the gametypes into a Team Skirmish match? That doesn't make any sense. Why would you take games from a non ranked playlist and put them in a ranked playlist? I don't want to be playing team skirmish and have plasma punchout or schwatguns come up. Too bad about multi team though. I always thought that bungie should've made a ranked version of that because all the games are really fun, but I was never really inclined to play it as much simply because it wasn't ranked.

Not to disapointed with the new matchmaking update. If i were to ask for one playlist back it would be multi-Team. I like to join this when i dont really have any customs going at the time bc you usually start with a BR.

Why would you take out team SWAT, I was geeked when Bungie made it ranked, now you guys are taking it out!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on! stop changing stuff for the worst.

Why would you take team SWAT out, it's one of the best playlist out and thats all I play next to Slayer an Snipers. Please don't take a great playlist away!

im pretty happy team swat is gone. seems like that was the playlist all the modders swarmed to and get their ranks up which was annoying as hell. and i bet that was a factor in removing it from the playlists. [Edited on 11/18/2006]

if they bring back team swat at least make it unranked, sucks having a friend over and being excluded from the quick fun fast pace of swat. also give me the chance to make team carnage for the holiday season, since i love the randomish game types that occur there, not to mention have many more in mind

It was inevitable that changes like this were to occur to matchmaking, however I think its a real shame that SWAT is having to pack its bags and leave. I've always considered SWAT to be a real gem of the playlists, simply because it is so different to the rest of the Gametypes, thus forcing players to change their style of play to a degree that is not necessary in any other form of playlist, and this is why it has grown so popular since its release. (Judging from the Matchmaking stats chart.) Although i hold nothing against Bungie for taking away SWAT. They know what they are doing and its clearly for the greater good in the long run. I just hope they bring it back to our screens in the future ;-).
