Will the site update also delete usernames?

Amongst all the talk of changing usernames, I was wondering if "Absent Member" accounts are going to be deleted. There are a number of usernames that are unavailable due to these accounts, most of which are no longer used alts anyway. Does anyone know if the update will include that?

  • Don't fret, there are still plenty of other good usernames out there.

  • Not going to happen.. Although I agree that very old accounts with no Gamertag linked should be deleted.

  • Really old 'Absent Member' accounts which haven't linked their gamer tags do get deleted after a while anyway, I highly doubt Bungie will do this (unless they do a huge second account purge of the whole site, which I also highly doubt). Edit: After reading the guy above me it seems that they no longer auto delete accounts, I didn't realize that system had changed. In which case, I think they should bring it back. • They got rid of the auto-delete system for inactive accounts quite a while ago, so I wouldn't think that those accounts will be deleted in the update. However, I don't know that as a fact.

  • A few years ago Achronos mentioned that accounts won't be deleted for inactivity anymore, perhaps the system was bugged and they plan to flush out all the old accounts again? But who knows.

Its possible that could happen, but its also possible they will keep them because you never know the users could come back. We will have to wait and see.

  • Maybe if we ask the employees nicely and give them a treat they'll answer us.
