Also, it's not just non-Bungie ones, it's EVERY Halo since CE that has attempted to recreate various aspects of CE.

I really feel that Halo 4's story draws several parallels with Halo: CE. Hell, there is even a part in H4 where Cortana blatantly says that Chief and her need to take a play from their old play book to complete a task. I don't think it's necessarily a bad think, I think it's more 343 paying homage to Bungie.
