How to explain why you come to Bungie.net (UPDATED)

So, a few of my friends know I come here and post regularly but they never understand why. Previously, one of my friends used to come here some what often to check on game updates and stats. But during the darkness periods my friends never understand the reason to coming here. They also don't understand the reason for posting really unless you have a question about a game. I'm sure they are not the only ones, So I thought it might be cool if as ac community we wrote an explanation of why we come here? I mean besides the "somewhere to go when I'm bored", "Habit", or "becuz da womenz". I want something real, and genuine. Something we can refer to when people ask "Why come here?", "Why post in the forum?" So anyways, that is my thought; I figure we can just discuss and posts ideas in this thread about it. See if we can come up with a good, well written, explanation. Here is what I have so Far:
So you ask why do I keep coming back? What is the point of posting on this website? Well, it isn't a simple answer really. There is a lot of reasons why I come here. I mean, like most people I first started coming here because of the games, the stats, and the little perks you get. But as time grew on I started to get interested in looking at the forums. Glancing through threads about the games and finding out secrets/easter eggs in the game I didn't know about. As time grew on I started to see a connection between me and the other people here. I started to get into groups, specific forums, and even play with some people via Xbox Live. I started finding people I can really connect with here. As time grew on I started to get involved in the community. I started helping in community projects, playing in community events, and helping out in groups. I really felt like through this journey I had found a place for my self on the internet. I feel like I belong here, that is why I keep coming back.
[Edited on 01.05.2013 6:10 PM PST]

We came here for the game updates, stats or whatever, but we keep coming back because we find something of value in the community here.

  • I really enjoy meeting people here and I enjoy posting because I feel like I can relate to most people here. It's nice to talk to people who enjoy the same things and that makes it really easy to keep coming back day after day. It also makes it easy to have a desire to get involved in community activities. • This thread has been done before in a similar way, that's how I feel. We are all getting bored.

I find myself dealing with this too. I come here because of how long I have been coming here. I come because of the fun we have had and the fun we are having. Even if it is slow now, I know something awesome is coming and I want to be here each day leading up to it and for when it comes. So the community is one of the main reason I keep coming back. as well as for the discussion, and pretty much everything else that makes this place we call Bungie.net

  • True, But I have always felt the question was never answered very well. I always felt like something was pulling on me to come here, like it was part of my destiny. I also never had a good explanation for it except maybe like "YOLO amirite?"
Posted by: SPRTN One One 7 This thread has been done before in a similar way, that's how I feel. • I don't know, I really don't know. I started posting in the Halo: Reach forum after Halo 3: ODST came out. Later on I moved to the Community fourm where i've stayed ever since. I really enjoy posting here, most of the members here are so helpful, kind and trusting, the groups and projects are awesome too - plus I love rising to a good challenge. After posting solid for over 2 years now (not that long I know) I doubt that I will ever be able to forget this site.

  • I came because I liked Halo, I kept coming back because Halo updates, and then when they signed over Halo I was excited for the new game. Also the community is a fun place to be.

  • Not even past the first page and he already made an update. This guy means business. Back in 2004 I liked the computer more than I liked life. Now they get about 50/50 attention. My life gets the day, my computer gets the night, and my brain gets fried.

  • I first started coming here during 2005 after playing Halo 2's MM, although I lurked for a few years solely for the Halo 2 and 3 stats, I eventually joined in mid 2008 and became involved in the Community.

  •
Posted by: ARBITOR 5 I don't know, I really don't know. I started posting in the Halo: Reach forum
I knew I should have stayed away from the gaming forums. I remember going to the Halo 3 forum, just to ask a question about it. All I got was, the game sucks, CoD 4 is better, Halo 2 was better, Halo 3 doesn't deserve to be called Halo and there would only be a few people who actually answered my question. I skipped Halo 3 ODST(Good thing I did, people were -blam!-ing about that, too.), and thought Reach was going to be a different story. Man, all people did was just say the same thing like they did in Halo 3. I already know what is going to happen to Destiny. "Halo was the better franchise, Destiny sucks!" I always found that gaming forums were the worse, when wanting to get in touch with the community. For some reason you have to wait later on until people that hated the game left the forum and all the people who love it will come out and say it. They will ask if anyone would like to play the game with them. Though when you stay away from those forum damn, it is so much better. I like the community forum the most, with the flood being second. I just started getting into community carnage just last month. I really wish I joined the community carnage a long time ago. This place is probably the most entertaining place to come to. I barely go on any other gaming site when it comes to it because they feel like slow.

OT: I suppose it would be the connections I made with people over time, and what I have come to expect. This site and its people have helped me on numerous occasions, sometimes without my knowledge, and so I truly cherish it. It's just like a breathe of fresh air in comparison to regular life, being able to discus and be open with others just like yourself.
