I'm really starting to lose my faith on humanity (The next generation)

I felt like writing this because is something that has been on my mind for a while. For the past two years, I feel like I really have loss my faith on humanity. Why you ask? Well due to the things I have experienced and seen as of late. By the way, I'm 15 years old. I don't live in the best place of the world, so you can argue things are like this only where I live, but I see this spreading. I go to school to see most people there act like degenerates because it's what seems "cool" and the new trend nowadays. The first thing I want to discuss is weed. I myself don't smoke, and whether weed should be legal or not is another subject and is not what I want to discuss right now. I want to discuss people who smoke due only because it's trendy, and then do horribly academically and make poor choices. These are the same people who are getting extremely drunk in a daily basis, mistreating other people, finding that wearing 200$ leather jackets and acting ghetto, and thinking that having "swag" is the most important thing in their life rather than trying to succeed. These people also seem to have no regard to human life, insulting each other, for example a man calling a women a -blam!-, or a women calling another women a slut. It really saddens me that that's what the world is becoming too. If people can be so influence to act like that due to do the media (rappers, celebrities, etc) and act like brainwashed toys because what is trendy at the moment. And are unable to make their own choices, decisions, and think for themselves, but instead just be so gullible and manipulated, then I feel compelled to lose my faith on humanity Edit- I changed it to the coming generation of adults who are currently teenagers, that what I meant to say. I noticed humanity may have been an exaggeration. [Edited on 01.03.2013 5:30 PM PST]

 • Not all of that generation is terrible, you just have to look hard enough. Also, just ignore those other kinds of people, the "degenerates".

You're 15-- you might be losing faith in humanity because people in your high school are acting like people who go to high school, but there is a world out there far greater and more diverse than your school or your perception of humanity.
Today's children.

What you're saying is what all parent generations have said.
Again, and that is? All I see is that this year, there has been a pretty significant increase for teenage arrest and suicides.
The only reason suicides seem to be more common is because the media is focusing on them a lot more than in the past.
Statistically, there has been an increase.

 • OP, does this sound like you? Above average intelligence Depressed Cynical Stop holding people to YOUR goals and standards, yeah they're probably not going to be in academia but they don't want to be. They'll grow up eventually and it shouldn't be your concern. You're judging them by their little clique of people which is rarely an accurate portrayal.

 • Somebody has to mop the floors, cleam the toilets, and make my burgers. Just be glad people like this exist because they will be the ones doing the horrible jobs.

 • This "losing faith in humanity" phrase is getting dumber and more generic.

 • A bit premature buddy I'm sorry. I don't like how some modern style is going these days but its not enough to just "lose faith". That's when you just stick your chin up and stick to what you believe like a man. I do have a question though. Can anyone tell me the origin of this rise of "swag"? It kind of just materialized out of the amoeba that is style nowadays. Ever changing.

It's good to see other human beings who are wise enough to see the truth and brave enough to speak it. I have been telling people this for years. Then they (the degenerative group) just try to put you down or tell you off because they themselves think they can't do anything about it so, they spend their days partying or getting high. The thing is everybody can do something about it. Instead of just letting things happen people need to suppress that nature and start thinking for themselves and thinking of what is best for humanity as a whole instead of partying and getting drunk all the time. The world will only continue to become worse and worse until people as a whole step up and realize they can make a difference. You just have to suppress the human nature of self destruction and be more loving towards others.

 • I'm 15 too and used to get really down about this issue, the fact that everyone around me did this and that and yadayadayada But then I realised, why get down about this? It's their problem not mine. So now I live a life not caring what other people do, and doing what I want to do. Although arguably I'm worse off than how I was before because I spend more time hating myself now

 • Think of humanity as an ocean. And those people in the OP are dirty drops. Just because there are a few dirty drops of water in the ocean doesn't turn the whole ocean dirty. Also, high school =/= the real world.
