I am not going to link (it's been done enough already), but I believe that it has been confirmed that a particular domain on the Internet (with the word Destiny in its URL) is not owned by Bungie LLC but in fact by someone who is likely (well, at least until now) unaware of the Destiny/Bungie link.
So, if (and I am still open to evidence that shows the URL is Bungie-controlled, but I believe that it is not) we've been pounding that address, site and login with lame attempts to "get in", I think that we (as a community) may want to show the owner/host of that address that we're sorry for any inconvenience and/or perceived threat/attack that they may have felt due to our.... eagerness.
So, idea and suggestion time. What is the correct etiquette for a "sorry that we appeared to be raiding your server"?
Flowers?
A card?
A t-shirt?
A cool "I survived being Bungie.netted" logo for their front page?
Any ideas are welcome, what say you?

More attempts to break the password? Besides, how are we supposed to get anything to this upstanding gentleman if we do not know who he (or she) is? [Edited on 11.28.2012 10:05 AM PST]

Have we considered asking for the password? I could use my suave charm, if necessary.
-
Tell him to hand over the domain name to Bungie...or else.

Dancing New Zealanders?

Oh, and I found the guy's contact info. Took all of two seconds. No, it's not bungie. See below: Name: Olivier [Redacted] [Redacted]@destiny.com Address: [Redacted] Phone: [Redacted] I edited out any personal information until I get the go-ahead from somebody with more power than me. (Mythix don't count)
Posted by: burritosenior Have we considered asking for the password? I could use my suave charm, if necessary.
Why are people still attempting to get in? Could you imagine if that was your own little server, minding it's own business and suddenly your failed login attempts go from 1-3 a month to a couple of thousand in the past few hours? That'd be a Will Robinson moment for any site admin. I think that as a fan community that is basically good-at-heart (unless it's REALLY funny) we should reach out to this unrelated island on the Interwebs and offer a "oooopsie" to that site.

There are 2 things that hint to me that it could be a bungie website. 1. Obviously the domain name 2. The pink heart Bungie has been known to use the heart from time to time. It probably isn't related, but it could be.
-
This reminds me of Bungie Day 2012 when we "decoded" some numbers and everyone was calling the phone number
-
Perhaps, if you can reach the owner/host, you or a suitable representative of this community, could try explaining exactly why it is happening and discuss options to prevent further mishaps. I'm no tech guy, but I'm sure a solution could be found. And see if Bungie has any left over Halo swag to get rid of. Send that...

Anyways, who's to say that he didn't make the site trying to traffic on the wake of Bungie's awesomeness? Like when a tid bit of information is released about a game, and a bunch of users try to get the domain name associated with that tid bit of information.
-
Well I think that we should take the owner of the domain and fire him into space from a slingshot, then send pics to bungie it's what they would want.

It's not Bungie. I don't think that I should be posting the information about that website here, but just so you all know it is not Bungie. [Edited on 11.28.2012 10:19 AM PST]

Well we could always make them a nice offer for their domain.

A quick internet search says that White Tulips and Aqua Blue / Violet Hyacinth Bouquets should do the trick.

That was awfully easy to find. I'm surprised no one has done this earlier... Any ways back onto topic, what should we do to apologize? [Edited on 11.28.2012 10:24 AM PST]
