Did you like what 343 did with the forerunners?

What do you think of the way 343 handled the Forerunners? I would have preferred if they had refrained from including them altogether in the game - it would add to the sense of awe and mystique that you felt in the past Halos, and besides, they look like geriatrics with surgically removed noses - you could tell the design team wasn't especially inspired. I don't think that the inclusion itself was the actual problem - the issue was in the way they reduced the Forerunners to petty creatures, completely ignoring all the connotations of sheer evolutionary superiority that the previous Halos strove so hard to build. Hell, the books didn't help that much in that respect either - the general plot and structure of the book was fairly well executed, compared to the previous Halo books, given that it was authored by Greg Bear, but the way in which the Forerunners were portrayed was disappointing to say the least - they could have done much more with it than reducing them to a more evolved humanity IMO. • 1. Didact is ugly. 2. Didact is a tard. 3. Librarian should have killed him instead of betraying him and letting him plot his revenge for centuries. 4. Didact and Chief NEVER even speak to each other directly. 5. Didact and Chief only meet twice. 6. Didact likely didnt kill Chief because he probably thinks Chief is just an emotionless green robot being ordered around by Cortana (See 4 and 5 for reasons). 7. Didact falls of a bridge. Really 343? •
Posted by: Cake Slayer
Posted by: THElizzard01 Nopenopenopenopenope. In the original series they were basically hailed as gods, and in this game they resort to petty violence and tactics that don't make sense/work for the sake of the story.

because they aren't the same forerunners we fought before, these are the warrior=servants, and humans that were turned into mindless AI, how the hell can you expect those who's bred and evolved to literally just kill have any intelligence outside of combat strategies?

 • Yea,but most weapons including the unsc and the covenant are inaccurate. I was expecting Boltshot to beat the Frigate. Alas :( I am becoming more and more convinced I really need to do a massive thread on Halo 4's story on the Flood.

He was joking around. But based on what the Promethean guns fire, they should be a helluva lot more powerful.
•
Posted by: Metalignus But some people do prefer their game and story "spoon-fed", and I guess there is nothing wrong with that either.
Is it really being spoon-fed if you expect the story to be self-contained? HP Lovecraft references his places like Arkham, Massachusetts or the Old Ones in several of his stories, but you don't have to completely read the story where they originated from to understand where the story you are currently reading is going.

You have no actual counterargument.
I think he is right. I liked looking for more answers for questions that I had in campaign. I liked that you had to look around for answers, it expanded the experience in my opinion. But some people do prefer their game and story "spoon-fed", and I guess there is nothing wrong with that either.

 • He's right finding the Halo's or the ark will be like finding a gold atom in a haystack not an oxygen atom consider that earth's atmosphere is made up of 28% oxygen
Posted by: Onyx81
Posted by: lI Maverick lI
Posted by: Onyx81
Posted by: CharlesBrown33
Posted by: Onyx81 If she got it from Alpha Halo, then why didn't 343 know where it would be? Oxygen atom may have been bad considering there's a lot of them. How about... A Gold Atom in a haystack. The Ark or Halo installations aren't something you can find with a telescope.
•
Posted by: CharlesBrown33
Posted by: Quantam The main issue is not how Cortana knew, but how High Charity even fits in the damn portal, LOL. 300km wide and it blowing through Earth's atmosphere to even get to the Portal should have caused a planetary catastrophe.
What are you guys talking about? High Charity was never on Earth. It appeared in the Ark's sky. Only a flood-infected vessel landed on Earth.
You see? You don't know what you are talking about. Quick to criticize 343i but doesn't understand one of the most important parts of Halo 3's plot. The Portal is the only way to get to the Ark in the time frame given. How do I know that? EU. Otherwise it would be an even bigger plot hole that it already is. [Edited on 11.22.2012 12:29 AM PST]

How a race with such advanced coil gun designs, both space and ground, anti gravity, fusion reactors in suits can't build guns better than modern day designs is retarded.

Literally.

 • No they're not. The UNSC is the strongest military faction. If there were more advanced factions, why don't we see their weapons?

 •
Posted by: LordOfBlah51 I don't like the Prometheans, but I'm okay with the way Didact and the Librarian looked (although Didact looked kind of evil for a "I was once the protector of the universe" guy).
He got really ugly becuase he mutated his body in a last ditch effort to find a cure for the Flood. After that, his Prometheans allowed themsleves to be composed, and then the Didact went about Composing humanity.
