Always been a bit curious about this. It doesn't have to be a thread necessarily condoning them, but one where they are just generally discussed.
-
Because... they're illegal. As in, against the law. Why would Bungie want to house such discussion on their site?
-
Because they're illegal and against the Terms of Use. I don't think Achronos enjoys explaining to other hierarchy about why a public website such as bungie.net is housing illegal discussion. There are other places on the internet to hold this discussion. Bungie.net isn't one of them. [Edited on 10.31.2012 3:51 PM PDT]

Because drugs are bad, mmkay.
Posted by: talon2000 Because... they're illegal. As in, against the law. Why would Bungie want to house such discussion on their site?
But they're not illegal to talk about. I mean, I've seen threads that discuss how the best way to kill someone would be. Wouldn't that be illegal?
-
For the same reason they don't want there to be a thread in the flood planning the robbery of a bank or the murder of a public official.
Posted by: LiberatorOfMind But they're not illegal to talk about.
You're on bungie.net mate, it is indeed illegal to talk about it. Read a post from Achronos yourself about a similar situation. I don't like having to talk with FBI, ATF, and police about people who are building explosives, so I'm happy to err on the side of caution here. As such, posts that talk about worrying things, like building explosives, violence, physical threats, etc., are met with swift (and usually permanent) bans. Expect your continuing posts about these topics to get yourself and your alts permabanned. Make no mistake - you do NOT have freedom of speech on our website. You do have the freedom to go elsewhere. Take the hint, and talk about your explosive-building hobby elsewhere.

Discussions of illegal substances invariably leads to "well I partake in the substance, legal or not" which is a post about committing a crime, endorsing criminal activity, or supporting/encouraging illegal activity. All of which we agreed not to do when we created our memberships. Now, the discussion of current event crimes? I see those all of the time. But as soon as one gets into posts/discussion of members who commit crimes, or otherwise endorse/encourage illegal actions, they have to be closed and members reminded of their initial promise when they joined this community.

And we like to be chill and talk about this community and the goings on surrounding it. It's quite fun. ~Delta

In addition to what has already been mentioned, I figure it's just not the image Bungie wants to maintain. It's not a good public image to do business. [Edited on 11.01.2012 7:47 AM PDT]

Grow up. There are plenty of sites to talk about that crap. Go there.

What about legal drugs like DXM? Can we discuss those?
Posted by: LiberatorOfMind What about legal drugs like DXM? Can we discuss those?
You just answered your own question. Although if a moderator wants to ban you for it. they will. and there isn't anything you can do about it. And tehcnically using DXM as a recreational drug is illegal. Little known fact it is illegal to use over the counter drugs "in a manner not consistent with their labeling, or intended dosage" its a little known federal substance law that can be used to stop people from abusing legal drugs. So if you want to discuss DXM's use under normal dosages as a cough suppresant, go for it. [Edited on 10.31.2012 7:17 PM PDT]
Posted by: LiberatorOfMind What about legal drugs like DXM? Can we discuss those?
I recall someone was banned for talking about Adderall, however I do not know the circumstances around the ban (user could have been abusing the drug and openly saying so). Moderator discretion, in the end.

Why do you feel the need to discuss illegal drugs so badly? If you want to do it so terribly badly, find a forum that allows it.
Posted by: CrazzySnipe55 Why do you feel the need to discuss illegal drugs so badly? If you want to do it so terribly badly, find a forum that allows it.
Better question. Why feel the need to discuss your illegal actions on the internet at all? I swear discretion is non-existent these day. And I don't think we're allowed to discuss the discussion of illegal drugs either.
-
There are far more appropriate outlets to discuss your illegal substances (4chan, IRL, not-Bungie.net). Besides, why would you want to talk to a bunch of 12-year-olds in the Flood who have no idea what they're talking about anyway?

Can we talk about prescription drugs?
