Hey Flood.
Has anyone donated to any Kickstarter projects since the site launched?
I'm really tempted to donate to Project Eternity, Obsidian's new project. Obsidian introduced the world to some of the best RPG's of all time, including Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Knights of the old Republic, Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas.
So, what about you? What do you guys think about the idea of game / music / film developers being directly responsible to you, the target audience, as opposed to some nameless corporation / publisher?

Nope. It's just all -blam!- there.
-
MY PAYPAL SETUP IS TAKING FOREVER Mostly because my bank keeps thinking I'm a hacker and won't let me log in without entering ALL my personal details everytime I have to log in, and I need to wait for snail mail to send me my online banking activation code.

I have no interest in Kickstarter and prefer traditional methods of development.
Posted by: A Good Troll I have no interest in Kickstarter and prefer traditional methods of development.
Well, i used to think the same. However, when you see big companies bleeding franchises dry like COD and Battlefield, with little creative advances from year to year, it's nice to see game devs approaching fans to get funding to make the games.
The average person is quite happy with that system. Obviously, the average gamer is perfectly okay with the current system of remakes, otherwise Call of Duty wouldn't be selling millions upon millions of copies. Creative advances will happen when people demand it. And the best talent will continue to work at large corporations and studios doing designwork on Call of Duty 20 because that is where the money is. [Edited on 10.12.2012 5:43 AM PDT]

I donated to the PurePwnage movie (It's on like, indigogo or some -blam!-). I've done some other stuff but I can't really remember.

Hey Ocean! world tour.
-
Nope.
-
Is there a link so I can know more about this from a 3rd person perceptive?
-
I believe in giving content generators my money after they can offer a product, not before.
-
Yup, I bought a pen.
-
I donated to Project Possum. It wasn't a Kickstarter project exactly, it was on Indie Gogo, which is the same concept.
-
Posted by: Not The Joker I believe in giving content generators my money after they can offer a product, not before.
The whole point is these projects would t probably be around due to the nature of the projects themselves. Project Eternity is an isometric RPG. There are no others around at the minute as game publishers don't want to fund them. Without the Kickstarter project, it won't get made. Besides, donating $50 gets you the game and other cool stuff, so you can think of it as a pre-order if it helps.
-
No, and I have no intention to invest my money into something that could end up being a complete failure.
-
No. If I wanted to invest, I'd buy shares in Apple or BP or some other major company. Not some random indie project.

Planetary Annihilation
-
I would love to donate to the Kaiju Combat game, but am not in a position to do so. You guys should if you liked the Godzilla fighting games, same developers.
-
I've never went and looked for myself, but from word of mouth I haven't heard of anything that interests me. If I do, I wouldn't mind throwing them a few buckaroos.
-
No not really.
-
I donated to Planetary Annihilation and the OUYA. Both still dish out updates now and then.. So I'm still feeling comfortable they'll be delivered.
