Things that I've always wished for but never got...

1. Dual wieldable M6Ds. I remember me and my friend both opened up on this Elite with our M6Ds, he went down in seconds. Then I thought, what if we both had 2 pistols? Overpowered? Yes. Should it matter? No. 2. H1 and H2 PC Campaign Coop. Halo 1 is, in my opinion, the best game for coop. I've been playing H1 since I was 10, and it still hasn't gotten old. When HCEA came out, I was very excited for Coop. But there are just some things I can do on the PC that I can't do on the Xbox. So I'm still very disappointed. Did Bungie ever offer an explanation for why they didn't include Coop in H1 PC? 3. Catch, Thunderstorm, and Tilt in HCEA. I have an odd memory of my first time playing Halo 1 on Legendary. I remember Elites throwing grenades at me in the Pillar of Autumn(first level), don't know what that's all about, but I thought I could relive that memory, since 343i is including Skulls in HCEA... Nope. 4. Ugh... you guys continue the list. [Edited on 09.30.2012 1:02 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: nesteggfailure Crikey. No, am not withholding anything. Your trickster-isms are far beyond mine. (And thanks for the tips - sheesh.) As for the Chieftains, even the back-crack "assassination" fails 1/2 the time. You just have to exaggerate every movement and use geometry for the hammer guys. And keep the perfect distance with the fuel rods. Close enough that they don't revert to shooting, and far enough (and moving) away that they can't melee. Is always a micrometer from fail.
Alright. How does that even work on Crow's Nest? If you use a brute shot to melee the fuel rod wielders, they'll stumble until they die (a certain Spartan who used to be dressed as an Unggoy told me).

 •
Posted by: nesteggfailure Geez, man, now you're really reminding me of Grumpy. (If I remember correctly, you posted one of your exploits and he commented that you 'Had the makings of a great trickster' back in the day. - Pretty awesome coming from the man himself.) You certainly know the ins & outs, holme. Nah. As for my blam self, I became fixated on doing the fastest possible Legendary (Legendary-Mythic in 3...beating Chieftains to death, all headshots...etc) no die run in Rambo style. The saved films were awesome for that. It sounds simple, but, it took a lot of "work."
Should I try harder? Yeah I think he did say that. Yep it sure is awesome. Well I recommend giving it a try. You can use it to get Johnson out of the Pelican on The Ark (not at this point but after the Scarab battle). The Pelican will be hovering over the structure that has the grav lifts. Shoot it to the previous area with the Scorpion then get a checkpoint, preferably nearby it. Then you can bring the Gauss Hog into the building with him on the turret and get him into the cutscene (moderately difficult since it's tough getting the Hog there). Or just get him out of the Hog and watch him run at Covies (he's unarmed). Rambo style? No assassinating Chieftains? Sounds dangerous. Do you have any plans for what to do when they jump at you?
Posted by: nesteggfailure My greatest (intentional) trick was, ahem, having two Johnsons at the end of the first H-3 level. Thought it was pretty slick until Grump sent a clip of co-op guys ending up with like 3 or 4 Johnsons at the end. Aghh !!!
Are you hiding something from me? I know you're more capable than that! Btw, here's an easy way to get the second Johnson: Once you reach the area where Johnson spawns, don't go up the rock with Arby. Take the left rocky path (just after where the caveman easter egg is) and you can headshot Johnson off the bridge and he'll land on a rock preventing him from retreating. If you didn't turn on Catch skull, this is your opportunity to kill all the enemies, move first Johnson to the next area, and get the checkpoint. Then you can get him off the ledge and trigger the dam cutscene before he disappears. [Edited on 11.05.2012 12:37 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: nesteggfailure Jiminy ! Haven't had that one either ! (And Crow's Nest is my favorite level in the whole GD game...) You're making me want to H-3 again... And reminding me of Grumpy... At least I still have the trapped in tank (achievement)...
Well how about a marine that zips past you so fast you'd think it was one of those 2d background assets? It happened to me on The Ark. If it weren't for Theater, I'd have never known what the hell just happened. Oh and have you tried Pelican sinking? With a deployable cover, you can get their occupants out. Like in Halo 2. [Edited on 10.31.2012 10:06 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: nesteggfailure Yeah, there's alot of "suicide" by enemies in Reach Firefight. (Suicide Grunts=explanation) Nice clip, Sliding. Killed by the Arbiter. And I thought I'd seen it all.
How about being splattered by a marine? That's really easy to do; start up Crow's Nest, push the marine who's opening the door away from it, and stand in front of him.
Posted by: nesteggfailure I guess my only unique Halo experience would be somehow getting smacked inside one of the stationary Wraiths after "Belly of the Beast." I couldn't hurt them, nor they me. But, has probably happened to 40,000 people if you look around enough. (sigh)
That never happened to me actually.

 •
Posted by: chickenlittle why didn't they try to melee you
Same reason why Reach Brutes blow themselves up with plasma batteries. They reacted by pure instinct. I figured out a while ago that keeping small scenery items near you was the best approach for some encounters in Reach. This confirmed it pretty well. Like the TotS Zealot. It'd seem the hitbox for small boxes is quite big so he can't see you moving up to him from behind it. He'll melee the box when it reaches him and there'll be enough melee cooldown time for me to circle around and assassinate. Even if he anticipated it, it wouldn't make a difference, he'd melee the box first. It began with Halo 3 I think. On The Storm, in the room with the sniper rifle and various scenery items, get Arbiter in there and sometimes he can go crazy with his box kicking passions. This can also happen at the start of Floodgate, very comical results. [Edited on 10.29.2012 5:06 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: nesteggfailure Hey, I said I was trying... "Return to the Battlefield in..." is a completely legit and realistic concept. I think we can all agree on that. In actuality, have had (some) fun in Firefight mode...Courtyard in particular. You'll curse me for saying it, but, have found a few worthwhile diversions in Reach. Has been so long since ODST vaguely reminded us of CE's brilliance...Am just trying to be optimistic here...
This was one of the few Halo moments I've had in Reach. Done 2 days ago and I was so pleased with the outcome I put in a little more dedication than usual. Also, it took the slot for a future Halo 4 video I was planning on uploading. That's how significant it is to me. :P I didn't even look at the motion sensor.

 • At least that was a good/above average start. Is so great to gather up fuel rod/needle rifle and get transitioned to the pea shooting pistol/useless AR. I did actually notice one clever thing on Reach this morning. When you enter the base on "The Package," the Sword Base level communications route is blocked...by high tide... That was pretty cool/inventive. Egh. Am trying here...

You always started with Carbine + Plasma Pistol.
Yeah I think I remember that. I always assumed it was because I was carrying a Carbine. It's always the cutscene I think of when I reference how our weapon appeared in the cutscenes.

Yeah some Reach starting weapons didn't feel suitable at all: WC with Jorge: AR regardless of whatever weapons you were holding outside of the relay. Interesting that there's less than 15 enemies TotS after Falcon crash: DMR + AR = you're basically forced to pick up the NR unless you conserve DMR ammo by using the AR LNoS: AR + pistol reinforces the team emphasis, which was practically non-existent in the campaign The Package: this is a landing mission? In Halo 2 Delta Halo, you had the Rocket Launcher. In Halo 3 The Covenant, you had the Spartan Laser. So for this level, it should have been the grenade launcher or plasma cannon. Instead, just the DMR and AR with 3 ODSTs who you can't swap with since they all have ARs. Oh and the only enemy at this part is Grunts PoA: pretty damn barren, barely any AR and pistol ammo. You're forced to use the enemy weapons (only for a short time thankfully since there's a DMR and rocket launcher nearby) Yep the AR and pistol. Extremely lame. The only levels with suitable starting weapons were: ONI, NF, Ex, NA, Lone Wolf [Edited on 10.08.2012 2:59 PM PDT]

(Other than Sparky himself with Johnson...but...)
Marines are never there when the Sentinels are against us in the entire trilogy. In Halo it isn't clear as to whether Spark wants all the Reclaimers gone because at the end of the day, he wanted the Chief's head for Cortana and the Index. The other Reclaimers (Marines) don't have that. As for Johnson, yeah...we all know why that happened.
