At what point do you decide that someone's being a jerk? When do you decide enough is enough and report them?
Bonus question: What should be done with members who just can't be tolerated?

The moment you start being rude I hit report there is no need for it if you're not mature enough to talk nicely then you get reported.
-
When a simple argument or debate has insults thrown in them.
-
Lord Raven is a jerk because I keep getting Lord Pyro and Lord Raven mixed up.

I only report trolls.

if you go into a private group and you don't recognize them. i.e. the lurks who just post in private groups.
Posted by: dazarobbo As has already been pointed out, this isn't something that can be clearly defined and agreed on by everyone using the site. The rules, I think, are a pretty good consensus of what people want in this context (which obviously leads on to the process of removing them through moderation), but others may want to broaden them or include others, and I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with wanting to be able to do that. blah... blah... blah... ignore button.
I don't think this thread is about rules being broken (I don't think the report part should be there) but more about how people treat eachother. I could call your post irrelevant and dumb, would that break rules? depends on how I word it. But I am being a jerk regardless.

I check their groups.

I think we are lacking in self-righteous, entitled jerkery as a community.

When they feel like some kind of insult is worth more than an on-topic reply.
-
Posted by: Grimaldus Bonus question: What should be done with members who just can't be tolerated?
Just forget about them.
-
When they spam group invites, when they spam requests to follow them on twitter, when they get a top foum topic and never update it, exc.
-
When everyone is enjoying the thread and then somebody makes a very negative post for no reason. Less mature people don't understand that they don't need to put their input in every thread, if you want to be negative for no reason go somewhere else.
-
If they are mad at everyone without an actual reason to.

You rang?
Posted by: Jump Into Hell
Posted by: Darth Malvagio
Posted by: Primo84 This forum needs more jerks.
We should take all the jerks from 4chan...and push them over here!
>jerks from 4chan Most of the /b/tards don't actually act that way outside 4chan. It's just a way to make themselves look stronger to outsiders only when they're on 4chan. It's to scare away casuals and summerfriends.
Or it could be that's how they actually think. Obviously no /b/tards act that way out in the real world, because they'd be viewed as having serious problems. 4chan is just an outlet where they can express what they think/feel. As far as the OP is concerned, I'd say it's hard to pin down a 'jerk', since everyone defines it differently. Some people here think that anyone who says anything slightly sarcastic or cynical is a jerk, and whine about the need for stricter moderation on 'jerks'. [Edited on 08.20.2012 6:56 AM PDT]

When they think they're better than everyone, except for Mythics. Everyone knows they are better than everyone else.
