along with even starts (Halo 3 and Halo 2)for those playlist that use the Ranking system, Halo 4 will be the most populated game of all time.
Halo 3 had a great 1-50 system, but Social Slayer was boring after you played a lot of games, because there wasn't many unlocks.
Now if Halo 4 has a great ranking system that is around 1-50's level, it also has a great casual system (Initial System + 8 other systems in which you get a ton of other unlocks that will drive casual minds crazy in joy)
Also, add that to Spartan Ops for the campaign lovers, and you get a very populated game. 5 NEW missions a week + Awesome Unlocks and Specialized Branches + Set loadouts for ranked playlist for a great Ranking System = Success for everyone

I agree.

Social Slayer boring? How does that happen? Social Halo 3 playlists never ceased to be great times.

SS wasn't boring, I usually use(d) it for warm ups. The ranked playlists in H3 didn't really have "unlocks" either except for some cheevos.

Reach had an awful ranking system also, which was just more chaos [Edited on 08.19.2012 5:16 PM PDT]

If you think a game needs an unlock system to do well, you're sorely mistaken. Look at Halo 2 and 3.
-
And if it doesn't it'll get raped by Black Ops 2, which does have a ranking system.

I said if Halo 4 has a great ranking system that utilize a set loadout, Halo 4 will be a competitive + casual dream. [Edited on 08.19.2012 5:17 PM PDT]

Man, what ever happened to playing games purely for the fun of playing?

I like Social Slayer...

If a ranking system is your sole reason for playing a game, you have e-peen issues.

Ranking systems will bring in barely any players. More people care about gameplay rather than levelling up. Sure, it's gonna bring in more hardcore players, but gaming is pretty much dominated by casuals now
-
Well, worrying about it isn't going to change anything...

In Halo 4, that's what you are getting, right? Halo 3's ranking system was phenomenal, but if I was to play Social Slayer all day, I just couldn't do it. It will just get boring like Reach after you reached Brigadier. More unlocks = a better lifespan to the game Good Ranking System = A better lifespan to the game [Edited on 08.19.2012 5:22 PM PDT]

I really don't care about rank. As long as the game is fun, I'll keep playing it.

Nothing better then sitting back with some friends and messing around in MP for a few hours, laughing it up at whatever comes up in conversation.

That's why I have to quit playing Reach because all of my friends are just CoD lovers.

Let's see how far that got you. Halo 4 IMO should be reech ranks in social playlists and 1-50 or something similar in ranked. But I'll still play Halo because it's Halo, not because of ranks. And you said SS is boring? How long was Halo 3 #1 in XBL pop.? Yea... People loved to play SS and social playlists along with ranked playlists.
